The film is a great success, propelling him to worldwide fame – but when the dream doesn’t match the reality, he turns to Clare, lifelong friend and girl next door.

I can't believe I haven't written a review for this book yet!! I read it ages ago.. and like all of Jane's books, the characters pull you into their story from page one. Miles and Clare are best friends, and Clare won't stand in his way when Miles gets an opportunity to audition for a movie halfway across the world in LA. Not long after, Clare joins him there as his personal assistant, cause as we all know.. men need women to take care of the details of their lives...LOL We get to ride along with Clare and Miles on the glittering rollercoaster of stardom in Hollywood, watch them live, learn, and love... and finally Miles gets it through his thick head that Clare really is the one for him! A rom-com with a wonderful HEA... five stars is never enough for Jane's books!!

This latest book of Jane Harvey Berrick is one that left me feeling good all over.
I have read all her other books, but this one is special. It is, loving, warm, and so full of humour. The type of humour that the author excels at!
I love the fact that the , main characters; Clare and Miles, are British, and that the book takes place in, London and LA.
Narrated from two POV's, it makes the story of Clare and Miles so real.
Clare has loved Miles forever. They grew up as neighbours in London. I found Clare to be a very strong character. She would always speak her mind, but Miles, just didn't have a clue about how she felt! She was a history/ English Lit student at UC London, miles was an out of work actor. When he was given a chance to fly to LA to audition for a movie, Dazzled. Clare missed him before he went through the departure gate.
L.A, ( London on steroids but with palm trees and sunshine) would make him or break him. He did find a kindred spirit in his driver, Earl. They both loved jazz.
Every page of this book, shines with, humour and love. It may take longer than you think to read, because so much will have you falling off your seat, laughing!
The description of a actors life, as told by Miles, made me wonder how they keep their sanity!
Being, booted, suited, and styled within an inch of his life, had Miles, who was to play an angel, wonder if there was such a thing as, angels with plucked eyebrows?
There is so much to this story, you have to read it to see if Miles opens his eyes and sees the love in Clare eyes.
I was chuffed to bits with this book. It just leaves you feeling happy all over. Do yourself a favour, and read it for yourself. If you have read any of the other books by, JHB you will be,like me, constantly amazed at her writing abilities.

I loved the friendship between the gorgeous Miles and his best friend Clare. They have been besties since they were kids (their parents were and still are besties as well). Clare gives Miles that encouragement he needs as well as keeping him grounded when things get heady in Hollywood for him. Miles has a chance to audition for a popular book turned into film and Hollywood asks him to pay his own way to come for an audition, which he does and wow, his life is forever turned upside down. There were both so lucky to have each other - love like theirs was based on friendship each thinking the other too good for them and supporting each other in everything they did - they were both so generous even though Hollywood "crap" got in the way - really liked this story - oh Miles you are so sweet. I give this a 4 1/2 stars I so enjoyed it.

After having this book on my kindle for so long I finally got round to it! I don't know why it took me so long because I loved this book! It took you through so many emotions, from tension to sadness to laughing out loud!
This book is about 2 best friends, male and female and have been friends for so long! Clare is there for Miles and likewise he is there for her but her feelings run a lot deeper than just friendship.
The book takes you through Miles' career to fame, how it grows and the horrible things he suffers as a result. Clare is there for him the whole time.
This is a story of a strong friendship that grows to so much more. It is hilarious, I could totally relate to some of the things Clare says and her one liners had me laughing out loud! Loved this book and highly recommend it!

HASH(0xa79334e0) out of 5 stars LOVED IT. Sept. 11 2013
By K. A. Lander - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I have to take my hat off to Jane Harvey-Berrick, she really can write some brilliant stories. I've read The Education of Sebastian, The Education of Caroline, Dangerous to Know Love and now Dazzled. And with everyone they seem to be getting better and better and I fall in love with her characters every time.

Just off the top I have to mention the one thing I loved the absolute most whilst reading this. Both characters are British and from London, being British myself (and I know Jane is too) I found this so refreshing. I am so used to reading books written about American people, by American people. And whilst I have absolutely zero problem with that, I can't help but feel all giddy and excited when I read one about people from the other side of the pond. It just feels like home and I appreciate it even more. The words are familiar, sayings make me feel like I'm reading about my friends and family and I find myself chuckling when little things like my home town or places I visit are mentioned. I LOVE IT.

Clare could possibly be one of my absolute favourite heroines, ever. She is so refreshing, familiar, likeable, loveable, relatable, and so damn freaking NORMAL. It is the most unusual thing in books these days to really be able to put yourself in the heroines shoes and not feel like a fraud. So often these chicks are so unbelievable gorgeous, skinny, smart, and perfect and really, us readers pretending to be them is pretty comical. Not Clare though, she is such an ordinary chick and I really loved her character. Clare and Miles are the best of friends, their families are friends, they've known each other since they were tiny. They love each other but strictly in a friends way.. or so Miles thinks. UGH. My heart broke CONSTANTLY for poor Clare. She was so in love with Miles and he had no idea whatsoever. A typical guy. He sees Clare as nothing more than a friend, one of the guys, somebody he can have a laugh and a joke with, or sink a pint down the pub.

"In what universe was it fair that she got to have him? Just because she was beautiful and talented? Was I so awful? So hideous that he would never choose me? What if I wore a paperbag? What was wrong with me"

And then we have Miles. Sigh.. lovely, lovely, Miles. I had a little love/hate relationship with him at times. Miles is a London boy born and bred who has suddenly been given an incredible opportunity to be the lead actor in a brand new book to movie adaptation. His life is about to change, is he ready to be LA's new It guy? The journey to find out was sure to be a bumpy ride. I'm afraid to say the fame, the bright lights and the hot girls he was constantly surrounded by got to his head a little. His new found fame, and being thrust in to the lime light over night was a shock to the system. His new co-star, Lilia the b1tch, was another hurdle altogether and STILL, even with his best friend, Clare, by his side, having travelled across the world to be with him, he still couldn't recognise the love that she held for him. I wanted to smack him round the head and shake some sense in to him. All in the name of love of course.

"Aw, you love me really." I said, wrapping my arms around his waist, and planting a squeaky kiss on his cheek.
"Nah," he said. "You're more like a bad habit."
He was joking. I knew he was joking. But I wanted to cry."

The majority of Dazzled is set in LA, where Miles' film is being shot, and I found myself constantly believing I was right there with them. I loved all of the filming excitement, the premières, the interviews, the crazy fans. Jane described it all to perfection and not once did I ever feel like it was unbelievable. The story is also told in dual POV which I love to bits. There really is nothing better than being able to get inside both characters heads, even though it could be painful at times. Clare's POV was the most painful to read, reading her thoughts on Miles and his silly ways broke my heart, but it was all so important. It helped me understand her, and Miles' chapters helped me understand him and why he made particular decisions throughout the book. As well as Jane's usual incredible writing, and addicing storylines, we are treated to a little more this time around. The humour throughout this book had me in STITCHES. On more occasion than once I found myself chuckling, giggling and just generally SO happy. The one-liners were so so perfect.

"I don't go around dipping my wick into anything that has a pulse."

I don't want to spoil any of the book at all, but I just want to talk about Clare and Miles' actual relationship. As I said before, they are strictly friends, and it stays that way throughout the majority of the book. A romance doesn't happen between the two of them for a long time, but I loved the build up. The sexual tension between the two of them was apparent the whole way through the book, so when *something* did finally happen, I could not have been happier. It was beautiful and I felt a huge amount of relief. It was so perfect and I was reading the words with a massive smile on my face.

"Just so you know..."
"I love you too, Miles."
"You do?"
"Of course, you moron."

I loved Dazzled and, I know I'm being greedy when I say this, but I can not WAIT for what Jane has in store for us next.

I really enjoyed this. The dialogue was fun but it still had feeling. I have read some of JHB other books but this was my favourite. She can write a rom-com. All the characters were great. Great job.

HASH(0xa793384c) out of 5 stars LOVE IT Sept. 12 2013

ANOTHER.BEST.BOOK.EVER! and i was lucky enough to get an ARC (to damn happy about it).

first, i have a problem with this 5 stars rating, because i honestly think thats NOT enough for Jane's books;

second; Dazzled is another amazing story no as intense as her other books but totally worth it. This is a romance comedy with ups and downs, i laughed through all book, but i almost cried half way in the story;

third i cant make an ass kick review as a blogger would do it, but what i write is from the heart and is what i feel about the book.

Jane is an awesome writer, and its really easy to fall in love with her work, i read The Education of Sebastian and The Education of Caroline AND Dangerous to Know & Love. all books are worth more than 5stars rating, and only Jane knows how im such a pain asking about more and more about those books.. and DAZZLED wasn't any different. once i finished the book i said to Jane "i want book 2...and babies" lol..
i couldnt put it down. The story is entertaining the characters are too funny (Miles is lovely and too sweet for is own good and Clare is outspoken and she can kick some arse!), but also teaches us that sometimes real love is right in front of us, and we only need to open our eyes and see it! <3

This book is a easy reading and if you are looking for a little fun get Miles and Claire!!

To say I am Dazzled (sorry but pun intended) by the latest book by Jane Harvey-Berrick is an understatement. I simply loved this book.

This seemingly simple story of two best friends, Miles and Clare, is a rousing, crazy, laugh a minute, sweet, tender and romantic tale. Miles and Clare have been friends since they were toddlers. And their relationship, is very honest...they tell each other everything and are quite sarcastic with each other.

The book is set in England and the British humour had me rolling with laughter. These two pull out all the stops to make each other crazy. But the love is always there. When Miles, a struggling actor, is asked to go to LA, California to audition for a movie role and then ultimately gets the part, of course no one but Clare could ever be there for him while he flounders his way through la-la land. She spends the summer with him and in that short amount of time, their lives start to change and Clare wonders if they will ever be more than friends. When Clare has to go back to finish at University, both of them wonder if their friendship can withstand so much distance.

Without giving away too much all I will say is that this foray into a truly fun yet completely romantic book for Jane is such a welcome change from her more serious reads. I have loved all her books so much and I will add this to the list.

Dazzled will leave you with a huge grin on your face and a full heart.

To say I highly recommend it is an understatement. Read it...devour it. Simply brilliant :)

HASH(0xa7933630) out of 5 stars Sweetness! Sept. 11 2013

My goodness... I loved The Education of Sebastian of Caroline books by Jane Harvey-Berrick. So... I was very excited to read her new book.

This is nothing like the story of Caroline and Sebastian. For me this book was pure sweetness with a sarcastic dash of British humor. Kinda like Mary Poppins meets Benny Hill... perhaps a poor analogy but that is what I came up with.

This friends to lovers story had two of the most likeable MC's (Miles and Clare) I have ever read. I just adored them and I really liked their relationship.
Miles and Clare are best friends and even though Miles is an up and coming "it" young sexy movie star, he never loses his connection with Clare and she him.

Although the journey of the two of them FINALLY admitting and recognizing (as in Miles' case) their passionate love for one another and how perfect they are together was a bit too long, I still enjoyed this light-hearted, refreshingly adorable sweet read.
