Product description

Product Description

The love of Reade's life, Alex, lay in a coma showing no signs of awakening. And Reade put him there.

Alex loved life. His smile was contagious. He was gay, out and proud, never hiding his sexuality. Reade was not.

His unwillingness to stand up to his father and claim his life was the topic of repeated arguments between Reade and Alex- including that night in the car. Losing control of his temper and the car caused Reade to drive off the road and down an embankment. The near fatal crash put Alex into a coma.

They say people in a coma have vivid dreams.
They say people in a coma can hear you talking to them.

Can Alex hear Reade telling him about the fight he had with his father? Will Alex understand that the man he loves has given up everything to be by his side?

Will Alex want to leave his wonderful coma-induced dreamworld to return to Reade?

"I had to force myself to put it down lest I couldn't get up in the morning. Your writing style is unbelievably crisp and vivid..." T. Brown

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! I wish I found a love like this Sept. 6 2014

After reading and enjoying Jeremy Raybourne and The Mystical Gene by Larry Thomas AKA John Charles, I couldn't wait for his new novel In Death He Lives and once it came out, the wait was worth it. I could not put the book down. I read it from start to finish in one sitting. John Charles had me relating to the plight of poor Reade as he suffered through the pain and anguish he felt for his lover and friend Alex as he lay in a coma. I found the last chapter a real shocker and found myself reading it twice. I did not see that coming. Good job Mr Charles. What thrilling surprises are you planning on giving us next?

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Gay Romance with Twists Sept. 5 2014
By T. Brown - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
The first twist is that "In Death He Lives" is about two couples in which each is deeply and meaningful in love with his mate, one Reade and Alex and the second Lane and Terry. Since both twosomes confront the same cause of a potential separation, the reader knows that the two couples are connected. But how? Searching for that answer lures the reader to each successive chapter with lightning speed. The style is exceedingly well crafted, concise yet very descriptive. The personalities of the four main characters, especially Reade, are deeply developed and very empathetic to anyone who has ever stood by the ICU bed of husband, wife, of partner.

This story hooked me from with the first chapter! I couldn't put it down and reread the last chapter twice. I loved the way the author wove a tale of two lives with wonderful unexpected twists and turns which culminated into a beautiful ending. Very well written, loved the characters and the surprising ending. Highly recommended. I will be on the look out for more of John Charles' work!

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling and Heartfelt Love Story Aug. 28 2014
By Jacqueline - Published on

Compelling love story exploring the dynamics of different personalities and relationships. Reade is in love with Alex, but his father would never approve, and would even disinherit his son. Is Reade's own love and freedom worth the price?

This book is very well written and the characters are wonderfully developed, especially Reade. This book is very engaging, I felt like I was right there with him as he tried to navigate the difficult life choices which he faces.

I love this story except for the end. It could have ended where the story continue with life after death.
