Product Description

Review

Praise for Stephen Hunt: 'Hunt's imagination is probably visible from space. He scatters concepts that other writers would mine for a trilogy like chocolate-bar wrappers. This is Philip Pullman with a dose of benzedrine. Hold on to your hat and let yourself get carried away.' Tom Holt 'A ripping yarn ! the story pounds along ! constant inventiveness keeps the reader hooked ! the finale is a cracking succession of cliffhangers and surprise comebacks. Great fun' SFX 'An inventive, ambitious work, full of wonders and marvels' Lisa Tuttle, The Times 'The characters are convincing and colourful, but the real achievement is the setting, a hellish take on Victorian London ! the depth and complexity of Hunt's vision makes it compulsive reading for all ages' Guardian 'Wonderfully assured ! Hunt knows what his audience like and gives it to them with a sardonic wit and carefully developed tension' Time Out

HASH(0xa3ae06e4) out of 5 stars Stephen Hunt - best steampunk author out there July 25 2013

Stop what you are doing and go read everything Stephen Hunt has written. I love his post-post-apocalyptic take on our far future as a steam-punk, Victorian-era England as the Kingdom of Jackals. Hunt has created a vibrant world with interesting characters and great adventures. Definitely worth a read!
HASH(0xa3ae07d4) out of 5 stars The book kept me reading it (though some sections were slower than others) and I enjoyed the characters (both new and old) July 31 2015

Without spoiling things, I have to wonder if this is the last book in the series. People who have read the rest and this will know why I might be wondering this. The book kept me reading it (though some sections were slower than others) and I enjoyed the characters (both new and old).
HASH(0xa3add180) out of 5 stars More Jackelian Pain and Anguish Dec 19 2012

Hunt does more than a credible job holding our interest in this one. There were some actually clever ideas that escaped the realm of confabulation and climbed into the category of seductive. Hunt fans will find this satisfyingly convoluted.

Great continuation to an awesome series. Stream punk elements but so much more! The story is exciting and surprising, keeps you guessing.
