This book has a very diverse interesting selection of desserts. The layout is well done, the table of contents work, at the end of each recipe is a link to go back to the table of contents, so you can easily navigate from one recipe to another.

The first few pages are interesting, the discussion between American and Metric, the recipes are given in both measurements. Another nice touch, though not so important in today's google world, but still a nice reference, is some English/American ingredients, like caster sugar=superfine sugar, very helpful.

The recipes themselves range from very English, such as Eaton Fool, tea infused prunes and figs with vanilla yogurt, and apple caramel and custard fool, to one that sound more familiar like strawberry ice cream.

Whether you're looking for something easy and familiar like Chocolate Mousse, or want to challenge your skills and taste buds with Caramelized Croissant Parfait, you will find it in this little gem of a book.

It is no secret that I absolutely LOVE desserts! I am always picking up different dessert recipe books to see little tips and tricks on how others prepare their desserts.

I am so glad that I picked up this little gem because there are all sort of tips throughout this book. For instance, Jennifer touches on how different countries use different types of creams. One of the great tips in this book refers to how if you use one type of cream, it can be cooked without separating but if you use a different type, you'll have a big mess on your hands.

I just LOVE books with these types of nuggets!

And the recipes look delicious! There are a few in her that I have never heard of and I definitely have to try with my daughter, the Sauteed Apples in Calvados and the Hazelnut Pain Au Chocolat Pudding. Sounds yummy! Can't wait to get in the kitchen and get my hands dirty.

Having being exposed to many different, wonderful foods and dishes several years back through International travel, I've since been very attracted to recipe books from other countries. This one from the UK was right up my alley. It's delightfully different in that the author took such care in explaining the difference in ingredient names and measurements between UK/European and American. I've seen caster sugar called for in more than one recipe but discarded them, because I had no idea (until now) that caster sugar is called superfine sugar here in the USA, and can easily be purchased just about anywhere.

This also seems like it would be a great gift for a beginning cook because of Jennifer's details in explaining each recipe's directions. I can see how this would enable a new cook to turn out some great desserts with ease and confidence.

What a lovely cookbook - I will surely get more in this series. I appreciated all the tips in converting the English recipes to measurements and ingredients we have in the US. Now to the greatness of the recipes Jennifer has included...

Chocolate Stuffed Bananas - Love both, tried and failed to chocolate my own bananas, but never thought about using this method!!
Chocolate Berried Box - Sounds wonderful, but I had no idea what it could be until I read Jennifer's description of the dessert.
Eton Mess - Sounds awful, but not after further reading to discover that it is a classic English summer dessert.

This is the type of cookbook you just want to keep hand because you can't wait to make all the recipes! Worth every star.

What a cool cookbook! I have a friend from England that would truly enjoy these recipes from home. The poached pears proved to be my favorite (although once you read the ingredients you'll know why...I used strawberry wine for mine) Having the conversions was nice, measurements were in ounces so you will need to know your ounce to cup ratio if you want to use cups, but the author does disclose that in the beginning of the book. I personally enjoyed seeing the English measurements as well. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a collection of deliciously simple dessert recipes!
