Not knowing what this book really offered, I purchased this before my Canadian dental school interviews. Overall, this book says the same thing as articles you can easily find on the internet (ie, what to wear, what to find out about schools before going there for your interview, how to interview dentists about the profession and practice with a friend etc), absolutely no exclusive insight as to what the interviews are really like. This would have been more helpful if you don't have an internet connection...

Most Canadian dental school interviews are in some sort of CDA format, and this book is completely useless for that. This is more suited, I feel, to the traditional interviews that still go on in Canada (at McGill, for example)or dental school interviews in the US.

Overall, I feel like my money could have been better spent, and make sure you know that this is NOT a CDA-structured interview guide before you purchase.

This book does not offer any insightful information at all to the dental school interview process. I did get accepted to a Canadian dental school, but no thanks to that useless book.

HASH(0xa43b6540) out of 5 stars Buy this book before you go to any dental school interviews! July 14 2010
By Josh Lee - Published on
Format: Paperback
This book teaches you how to ace any interview and will be invaluable to any dental school applicant. Want to set yourself apart from other candidates? Read and practice what Matt Brutsche teaches. The only problem with this book is that it really puts you to work. If you are committed to this process and really want to set yourself apart from other applicants, this is the only way to go!

I read through the book in one night, highlighted the important points to me, and if I had time, would have done the recommneded exercises. My interviews were within a few days from the time I received the book by mail. Otherwise, it has some really great pointers if you have the time to do what it asks.

HASH(0xa43b6d8c) out of 5 stars Don't Waste your Money!!! Nov. 4 2015
By Riley Blackhurst - Published on
Format: Paperback
I don't really write reviews here on amazon, but I figured I would help others save the money. First of all half of the book is directed towards interviewing current dental professionals to basically see if dentistry is right for you. This section was a complete waste since I feel like you already know if dentistry is for you since you have already taken the effort to shadow, fill out the application, etc. The second half of the book is giving you tips on how to read your "interviewers mind", what to wear, and some sample questions. If you're comfortable talking to any type of people and have meaningful experiences to share about dentistry you will be fine in your interviews. Just use FREE online resources for sample questions such as SDN and think of meaningful life experiences to share. NOTHING in this book is valuable and don't waste your money like I did!!
HASH(0xa43b6da4) out of 5 stars This book is great if you're completely clueless Dec 1 2015

This book is great if you're completely clueless; however if you've ever interviewed for anything if your life, it just reinforces what you know. This book gave me more confidence in my interview process, but is far from the reason I got into dental school. If you're short on money, I would just talk to a college professor or advisor for better advice. If money's not a problem, this is a quick and easy read to reinforce the basics.
