Three things Jesse Carter has lost. A former Marine, Jesse used to stand proud of his achievements and live by the code. But when circumstance made him question everything he believed in, those most basic values didn’t feel so important after all.

Knights Rebels.

Three things Jesse Carter has found. Reborn into a brotherhood not so different from the one he left behind, Jesse finds it all too easy to block out his past and claim the role as Rebels' fun-loving player.

Until he meets Bell.
Shy, awkward, and with troubles of her own, Bell Johnson's no stranger to hiding her pain. When Jesse forces himself into her life, she’s at risk of her defences crumbling.

Does Bell have the strength to survive Jesse and his demons or is she fated to become another casualty in the self-destruction of Jesse Carter?

I knew picking this novel up that Jesse's story was going to be intense, emotional and a hard journey as you were given glimpses of his tortued and hardened soul in Books 1 & 2. I loved Jesse from the start, I knew he was special from his friendship with Kadence. Can I say I loved his dad's letter - made me teary and was revealed at the perfect moment in the story and loved Kadence and her role in that too.

Now Nurse Bell she was interesting, I struggled with her at some points but still loved her and she was perfect for Jesse in the end. Bell definitely had characteristics of being the oldest and duty bound responsible daughter so I could understand her weakness with her parents and not wanting to desert them.

Kadence & Nix are still number one couple for me in this series and I loved returning to see them all again including Sy & Holly.

Now one story I would love would be Paige and also Lissy who was Bell's friend, I think she was really funny and in your face which is what Bell needed.

This story flows well, it is emotional and their love journey takes a back seat at some points whilst both main characters sort out their inner demons but the ending is just worth the wait and the sex scenes were really hot and saucy.

I received an ARC for an honest review. I absolutely love love love the Knights Rebels MC series and this book was most definitely no exception. I must say after reading Affliction I swore that Sy would without a doubt be my ultimate book boyfriend for life, but hot damn if Jesse Carter didn’t walk in and make me second guess that thought. Don’t get me wrong I still absolutely adore Sy and Holly’s story but after finishing Desertion, Jesse has completely gotten under my skin.

After seven years serving his country in Afghanistan Jesse Carter returns home a changed man. Plagued by demons and guilt he cannot overcome alone, Jesse hides behind witty humor and a long line of random one night stands. Hiding his true feelings and past from everyone around him with a fake smile and his seemingly endless supply of pick up lines and jokes, while inside he is being eaten alive, drowning in self exile and dark despair. He truly feels he is not worthy of redemption.

Bell Johnson lives a sheltered life, always under the black cloud left behind when her sister disappeared suddenly one night six years earlier. Trying to find her own way in life, what she wants and how she feels, weighs on her daily. Living with her overprotective and still grieving parents Belle is a sweet, innocent girl who is definitely out of her element when hot, sexy as hell biker Jesse enters her life like a hurricane.

Jesse and Bell's story has already started throughout Incandescent and Affliction with Bell working in the local hospital often frequented throughout the previous books by the Knights Rebels and their families. Jesse can't get the sweet and innocent nurse Bell out of his head no matter how hard he tries.

OMG I had the honors of read the emotionally new book from River Savage called Desertion and it is f---king fabulous. Jesse is a man that is in so much pain it makes you feel like reaching out and hug him until you can rid him of all his pain. Every time he shuts his eyes the some old nightmares comes rolling back in, and he's so afraid to become close to any one ever the beautiful, caring Belle who wants to help him thought his hurt and his pain, but he's won't let her in. Because he's afraid of destroy her. But at the same time Belle is hurting also. She only 23 years old and still lives at home with her parents who keep her on an short leash ,because her younger sister Paige disappeared about 5 years age .And she still hasn't been found, So after 5 years there still no closer for the family . Ever Jesse life wasn't all that great specially having over controlling and abusive father, so he got out of the house by joining the military and fought for his country until one attack on his unit leaves him with guilt and nightmares. Put everything together and what do you get a time bomb ready to go off. He totally wants Belle but he knows it would end up him hurting her and if he did that it would kill him. So will they found love with each other or will they walkaway from each other. Sorry but I don't want to spoil it for anyone who haven't read it .But I will you this book was fabulous written in very possible way. And it will hold your attendance from start to finish. I would highly recommend everyone to pick up a copy and at the sometime have a box of tissue close by. Because it is such a touching love story, I can't wait until the next novel . Congratulations on a fabulous book, I give this book 5 stars but it should be more .

Five and more amazing stars!

All I can say is O.M.G! Wow…what an emotionally intense read. For most of us, we can relate to someone who is suffering with the events that happens in this beautifully written story. I would advise that to get an understanding of Jesse, read the other books in the series first.

River has done it again! While we all love this series and have been waiting patiently for the fun loving Jesse and Belle’s story, I know you won't be disappointed because I certainly wasn’t. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read and review this story.

Belle is a twenty-three old nurse who still lives at home with her parents, and who are keeping her on a tight lead following the disappearance of her younger sister, Paige. After five years of no news, there is no closure for Belle and her family. She’s on a night out celebrating her birthday, and her friends try to convince her it's time to move forward and live life. But she doesn't quite see it that way. Her night isn't going as planned, but her friends come up with an idea that swirls a little hope inside of her.

Jesse. Fun-loving, always there to help others, uses women for one night and also living a life where he can't move on. He has a past that no-one wants to go through. His family life wasn't all roses with an over controlling and abusive father. He joined the military and fought for his country until one attack on his unit leaves him with guilt and nightmares. Put these two together and what do we have? BOOM! After meeting nurse Belle, he knows she is more than a one night stand, but decides he is not the man for her.
