Product Description

Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment's worldwide blockbuster Despicable Me entertained audiences around the globe in 2010, grossing more than $540 million and becoming the 10th-biggest animated motion picture in U.S. history. In summer 2013, get ready for more Minion madness in Despicable Me 2. Chris Meledandri and his acclaimed filmmaking team create an all-new comedy adventure featuring the return of (former?) super-villain Gru (Steve Carell), his adorable girls, the unpredictably hilarious Minions...and a host of new and outrageously funny characters.

----------

Sticky doesn't begin to describe Gru's new life: the ex-supervillain has given up his villainous ways and he and Dr. Nefario (Russell Brand) have settled into the legitimate business of making jellies and jams with the help of his army of minions. Parenting is no less sticky, and the fact that Gru will go to any length to ensure the happiness of his adopted girls Agnes, Edith, and Margo is evident by the elaborate birthday party he's throwing for Agnes that includes a live unicorn and a princess named Gruzinkerbell. Anti-Villain League operative Lucy Wild (Kristen Wiig) kidnaps Gru after the party, using an arsenal of spy gadgetry that would make James Bond jealous, and the agency solicits his help in apprehending a criminal who's made an entire secret lab disappear from the Arctic Circle and stolen a dangerous transmutation formula. The lure of excitement tempts Gru, and he and Lucy set up an undercover operation in a bakery in Paradise Mall, the minions start cranking out cupcakes, and Gru and Lucy begin investigating their fellow business owners. Meanwhile, Agnes pines for a mother, Margo finds her first boyfriend, Dr. Nefario takes a more exciting job, a slew of minions go missing, and Gru staunchly refuses to enter the dating scene. Little does Gru know that his whole life is about to change once again. The minions and their antics are quite funny in this second film, and, for the 10-and-under crowd, they completely steal the show. For the older crowd, the film does a decent job of further developing Gru's character and provides lots of comedic material in the exaggeration of the many challenges of parenthood as well as through the wacky exploits of the minions. (Ages 6 and older) --Tami Horiuchi

I saw this movie on my 60th birthday. Both hubby and I really enjoyed it. I felt the focus was more on the minions but they were absolutely hilarious. I recommend this movie to all age groups.

"Despicable Me 2" returns with the life events of Gru and his daughters. This animated film does a good job with showing the happy emotional changes in Gru as a result of raising three girls. There is a funny scene in the movie where Gru shows his protective side. I also liked how the movie depicted the changes of Dr. Nefario and the zany exploits of Gru's minions. Gru also starts to become even more self-confident once he is partnered up with Lucy Wilde."Despicable Me 2" is definitely recommend for those who liked the first "Despicable Me" film and/or animated films safe for all age groups.

I must admit that I was skeptical about their ability to duplicate the success of the first movie. DM2 was a fun and fascinating revisiting of the world of Gru and his girls. Steve Carell is even more endearing than he was in the original and the addition of Kristen Wiig takes it over the top. The minions, as funny as they were in the original, top that performance by a mile in this one.

We're not talking Toy Story vs Toy Story 2 here, but Despicable Me was a fairly nice entry in the family movies, and this sequel really did surprise me on many levels.

We follow Gru as he is being recruited by a secret organization to track down an evil mastermind and bring him to justice. However, the agency doesn't trust Gru and send him a more than capable sidekick named Lucy Wilde, a name which should ring a few bells once you get to know her. The minions are funny as ever, but I'm quite happy they seemed to take the back stage a bit more, so Gru's story can develop. Although that is not to say the Minions are totally absent, far be it. Although this time around, their presence is getting quite useful for the plot. It was a really enjoyable sequel, one that I'm happy to report will please (probably all) kids and (sometimes) adults alike. I don't have any kids and I'm sure to watch this one again and again. It was a blast of comical fun and the voice acting was a few steps up from the first outing.

In terms of special features, we do not get much, but the three mini movies are fun, fast-paced, the deleted scene would have been almost better left in the movie, and there's a few featurettes to wet your appetite, but none that will fulfill those who crave in-depth interviews and inside information.

All in all, rent it if you must, but those who enjoyed the first may definitely well enjoy the second as much if not more :)

Former criminal and now nice guy Gru (Steve Carell) is recruited by secret agent Lucy (Kristen Wiig) to find a bad guy. They set him up in a mall bakery. There is something about a redhead named Lucy working in a bakery that jogs the memory.

While there are a few things for adult, the humor is geared at kids combining generic spy humor with fart jokes. Gru calling Mr. Ramsbotton, Sheep-butt got the biggest laugh among the kids. The colorful Candyland looking scenery along with the type of humor clearly indicates a this is for a younger crowd, i.e. tweens most likely won't be overjoyed sitting through it.

This is a great movie for all ages. Probably better the Despicable Me. The Minions are fun to watch. Love Steve Carell. There is even a scene reminiscent of Steves work as Maxwell Smart in Get Smart. In Get Smart, one of the funniest scenes is on the plane when Max is trying to escape but ends up shooting himself with darts in the nose, ears and cheek. Gru goes through the same fate when trying to get into the "bad guys" place. Very cute girls. I have 5 Granddaughters and sometimes I saw them in the movie. They love watching the movie with me when any of them are here.

Our whole family laughs a lot when we watch this. Little minions are really priceless. Too bad they don't speak real language, would love to see subtitles on what they are actually saying.
