Product Description

Damian Tate. One look into his sad green eyes and I was hooked. I wanted to be the one to make him laugh, to make him smile. I hadn't expected him to be the one to make me blush, to make me hot...to make me fall in love. He was my first kiss, my first love, my first everything. I wanted forever with him, but life got in the way.

He enlisted, I went to college, and for years we were never in the same place long enough to pick up where we left off.

Thirteen years after he left, tragedy brings him home. The stoic boy I fell in love with grew into a quiet, dangerous and wildly sexy man. He still tugs on all the right strings for me, but he seems determined to keep me at arm's-length.

However, when trouble comes knocking at my door, he is the one to put himself between that trouble and me.

Spending time with him might drive me insane, or it might be our second chance at first love.

Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

This book is a love story. But what I absolutely adored about it is that it's a story that shows how many different forms love can take. Here are just SOME of the ones that really helped make this a 5 star read for me.

1. It's the love story of Thea and Damien, who fell in love as teens, and how they fall in love again as adults. Damien grew up with a mother who didn't show him any affection, and he struggles with feeling worthy. And although this leads to him waiting 13 years until he is able to truly take his relationship with Thea where it should go, this is not a story where the reader is forced to jump forward 13 years. Instead, LA Fiore shows us how their love is constant and intense during this "in-between time"--and make us feel for the several "missed opportunities" due to life circumstances. But when the time is right, it is just amazing to watch them really commit to one another once again.
2. It's the love story of Thea and her father, and the precious father-daughter moments they have. Thea's father was honestly the perfect "book father." He was kind and generous. He was wise and loyal. I appreciated the honest relationship he had with Thea, and her twin brother Cam. But he also became like a father two other men who had never had that kind of family before: Damien, and his friend, Anton.
3. It's the love story of friends. There were so many characters that were introduced in this novel. But unlike other books, where the characters are introduced to serve a very specific function and then are dismissed or forgotten, OR there are just so many characters that you can't connect with any of them, Fiore was able to introduce a series of secondary characters who all had their own personalities.

This book was probably my favorite of all my favorites. Not only is it a story of characters and events, this book is a story of life. Its not what life throws at you, but ur decisions on how you handle things. Damian is mysterious and sexy, Thea is innocent and full of life and their connection - Electric and Sad, exciting and dangerous and absolutely PERFECT.
The story is so very captivating, the characters are so life like that i feel i have known them for years. Their emotions are mine and i felt their love, joy, and heartbreak every step of the way. Extremely well written, well thought out and EXCITING. When u think about pieces in a book daily and smile.. you know its a winner !!!

This book started out good with a lot of promise, but quickly deteriorated after Damian went off to the army.

They literally spent more than 10 years apart, and even when Thea and Damian could have been together focusing on rebuilding their relationship, the author created a mystery that became the plot line. There were a few disjointed paragraphs throughout that you had to go back and read because it just didn't make sense.

Too many characters introduced. I had to skip to the end around 57% because the story was dragging too much with no relationship development between the main characters.

I give this book two stars because I wanted romance, not mystery!
