Product Description

Stop on by the Diamond Saloon, where devious Englishmen blithely charm sceptical saloon owners and where voluptuous singers archly tease the strong, silent type. Enjoy these two sexy tales from Freewill, Wyoming.

~ROUGH DIAMOND~
Owner of the Diamond Saloon and Theater, Alice Reynolds is astounded when a fancy Englishman offers to buy her saloon. She won’t be selling the Diamond to anyone, let alone a man with a pretty, empty-headed grin…but then, she reckons that grin just might be a lie, and a man of intelligence and cunning resides beneath.

Rupert Llewellyn has another purpose for offering to buy the pretty widow’s saloon. However, he never banked on her knowing eyes making him weak at the knees, or how his deception would burn upon his soul.

Each determined to outwit the other, they tantalize and tease until passion explodes. But can their desire bridge the lies told and trust broken?

~FOOL’S GOLD~
Christmas Eve, the Diamond Saloon is empty of its people, and Pearl la Monte has a hankering to retire early. A pounding at the door rids her of such a fool notion. Her irritation rises when she sees the prissy, polite-like Garrett standing outside.

Ethan Garrett has a powerful need to gain succor. When the saloon’s voluptuous redheaded singer scowls at him from the threshold of the Diamond, he doesn’t stop to think on how his ire at her has disappeared. Or how he just wants to spend some time in her company.

When a blizzard storms in, trapping them, will they spend their time arguing or discover their irritation disguises something more?

My Review:
I always love reading books by Cassandra Dean, they're sweet, they're fun, they're witty and more than a little steamy. You get a bountiful mix of aww's blended in with the need to break out your vibrator and go to town. I mean who doesn't dream about some handsome stetson walking in wearing worn jeans and a mind full of unique ways to ride? Seriously.
(Although I wanted so much more because I am so greedy and I enjoyed it so much.)
That's Cassandra's package. The dream package. Even when they drive you up the wall, you're tempted to ask them to. Fools Gold and Rough Diamond were great stories to dive into and quick enough to finish for you busy ladies out there. There's a cowboy waiting here for you.

HASH(0xa4928d80) out of 5 stars At the Diamond Saloon just about anything can Happen July 2 2015
By CK Johnson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I received a arc for an honest review. Rough Diamond- This was a historical romance with adventure as soon as you meet saloon owner Widow Reynolds you can't get enough of reading about her and what she wants out of life for herself Alice wants more than just a saloon she wants what she sees in her head to be on stage so she purchased a theater next to the saloon and has a special show every month and has hired her friend from Chicago as her star Singer A new man is in town Rupert LleWellyn and he thinks that he can con Alice to get what he wants from her he comes and offers to buy her saloon even though that is not what he really wants but he thinks that he is smart enough to trick her out of it until he realizes that Alice is more than a silly woman saloon owner she is so much more and smart as any man she decides that she wants him to be her lover because he so pretty for a man but she feels something more for him even though she new when he came to her office he was more than he pretended to be and she had him checked out and Rupert LleWellyn thinks that he can love Alice and keep quite until he can figure out how to tell her without putting his job in jeopardy.
Fools Gold- This is Pearl Le Monte's Story she came to town a couple of years ago when her friend and owner of the Diamond Saloon decided to expand ever since Pearl has been the star singer and loving it she doesn't have to worry about every man thinking that they can buy her she is now running the saloon while her friend and her husband are away in France it's Christmas Eve 1879 and she has let everybody go home to their families and she is all alone but that is fine with her she has just closed up and is on her way upstairs when someone is banging on the door she opens up and is surprised to see Ethan Garrett the bane of her existence since she has come to town there it has been nothing but snipping and snapping from these two but tonight something is different he wants to talk and tells Pearl he needs to talk to somebody her she lets him in and then she pours drinks for both of them and sits waiting suddenly Ethan pulls a letter from his mother out and lets her read it she doesn't understand the problem he explains and she is pissed because he is rich well not exactly his family is but he has always wanted to work with coal which he is doing now and has been for the last dozen years and wants to continue but his family wants him to come home and work the family business that is not what he wants but he doesn't know if he should before they know it they are having sex on the bar and they don't seem to want to come up for air.
This was a very good box set enjoyed it. Great writing.

HASH(0xa4864414) out of 5 stars Wonderful pacing and use of dramatic tension – another winner ... June 30 2015
By Nikita @ Plot Twist Reviews - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
wo books in one! This boxed set features ROUGH DIAMOND (the Diamond series #1) and FOOL’S GOLD (the Diamond series #2).

Part 1 – ROUGH DIAMOND

Alice Reynolds has lived in Freewill, Wyoming long enough to know that you don’t trust any stranger that comes into town. Especially one sporting a mustard yellow waistcoat, speaking in an outrageous English accent, and offering to buy your precious saloon. What Alice doesn’t realize at first is that Rupert Llewellyn doesn’t actually want her saloon, but the massive coal deposit buried underneath it. As each tries to figure out the other, attraction takes hold and soon Alice and Rupert find themselves in a place neither anticipated!

Wonderful pacing and use of dramatic tension – another winner from Cassandra Dean! Anticipation and tension build through this short novella culminating in not only the Diamond saloon’s monthly Spectacular show, but also Alice and Rupert’s surrender to their mutual attraction. Rather than centering around the violent or rugged sterotypical plots of western novels, this plot is instead a romance in the truest sense of the word focusing on the romantic build-up between Alice and Rupert using the western setting as a backdrop instead of an external force acting upon the characters.

Alice is guarded around Rupert; she knows he is hiding something, but is intrigued by the handsome stranger. She is also a happily independent businesswoman who does not appreciate the men around her attempting to quash her freedom and ability to make her own decisions.

At first, I didn’t like Rupert. I thought he was an over-the-top dandy who spoke in an overly-affected English sterotype. Thankfully, it was made clear very quickly that this was an intention choice made by Rupert to hide who he really was from the people of Freewill, not his actual character. The real Rupert is a tough Welshman with a keen intellect and sharp attention to detail. He is surprised by his growing feelings towards Alice, but must balance his genuine interest in her against the contract he signed with his employers.

Part 2 – FOOL’S GOLD

A feel-good Christmas novella, FOOL’S GOLD pairs the fiery Pearl la Monte (from the previous book) with rough-n-tumble Ethan Garrett. The two have never seen eye-to-eye, but when a freak storm traps them inside the Diamond saloon overnight they soon realize that the passion they channel into their heated arguments is much better channeled into release between the sheets.

This novella was a cute peek into the lives of Pearl and Garrett and shows the story of how these two tempestuous people get together. They are constantly sniping at each other (Pearl moreso than Garrett), but secretly they genuinely enjoy the banter and excitement the other provides.

HASH(0xa4a462c4) out of 5 stars The Diamond Series July 10 2015
By petula winmill - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Alice is a young widow in Freewill. She owns a plot of land that might have coal under it, and a saloon. The Diamond is a respectable saloon. Alice doesn't allow the girls to take the customers to bed. Once a month she puts on a variety and burlesque show. The saloon and the show are her pride and joy, even if she does get overly anxious just before each show.
Rupert works as a secret buyer for a large coal mining company. He puts on the appearance of a bumbling buffoon. It's his job to buy up as much of the land surrounding the town as possible.
A historical western romance with lots of fun, and a lovely strong heroine. Alice does a fantastic job of looking after herself and others in a time and place that it was almost impossible for a woman to do so. Rupert starts as a figure of fun, and is totally over shadowed by Alice.
FOOL¨S GOLD:

A short story connected to Diamond
Pearl LaMonte has closed the Diamond saloon for a couple of days. It's Christmas Eve and there is a blizzard on the way. The girls are all away, so she is looking forward to some peace and quiet.
Ethan Garret has lived in Freewill since leaving his overbearing parents in Chicago. Around Christmas he feels a bit guilty about that. This time he wants to talk about it.
If there is one person guaranteed to spoil Pearl's peace it is Garrett. He is riles her up all the time.
A Good little romance , if a bit predictable.

HASH(0xa4765120) out of 5 stars Historical Western Romance Delight July 1 2015
By Colleen Conklin - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This box set contains the books Rough Diamond and Fool's Gold. The first one is the longer of the two and introduces us to Alice, the owner of the Diamond Saloon. She is a widow and has done everything she can to make her saloon the best it can be. She meets Mr. Rupert T. Llewellyn, but is there more to him than meets the eye?
In Fool's Gold, you get to see more of Pearl, Alice's best friend and Ethan Garrett. These two have been getting on each others' nerves for years. What happens when a blizzard comes along trapping them together?
I enjoyed how things flowed and unveiled themselves within both stories. Loved the characters and how they came to life between the pages of this box set. The banter between characters livened things up and the Epilogues left me with a smile. Looking forward to reading more from this author!
