Dibble is passionate, obsessive and an absolutely “mad” gardener. This is a year in his garden, where he struggles alone against the forces of Mother Nature, pests, atrocious weather and Shirl, the garden woman from up the street.
This is what readers around the world have said:
“Even my husband, who can't tell a flower from a leaf, laughs at Dibble’s diary.”
. . . Nancy, UK
“Dibble's diary is a real treat. Thank you so much!” . . . John, Madison, Wisconsin.
“I discovered Dibble’s diary and could not stop laughing. You have undermined my entire day.” . . . Sharon, Whangerei, New Zealand
“What I have seen so far is hilarious, mostly because it's true!”
. . . Chris, Victoria, BC.
Dedicated to passionate, obsessive
and absolutely “mad” gardeners everywhere.
Any resemblance to persons living, dead,
or complaining of a sore back,
is purely coincidental.
This book is crammed with subliminal garden tips!

Brilliant funny book, even if you are a non-gardener

Excellent piece of work. Extremely funny book even for a complete non-gardener like me, more than a non-gardener, I like very little about gardens. However David Hobson's diary of a year in the life of a committed, albeit eccentric, gardener in Canada is just so droll and funny that even a garden-phobe like me can find it immensely enjoyable. If you are a keen gardener then I am sure plenty of his experiences will resonate with you. Get it and prepare to be entertained.

Funny but often bordering on the ridiculous.

It was a funny book, but definitely ALL about a gardener. Not just a gardener, but a gardener obscessed/composting. I enjoyed the book, but I don't think I want 2 read another of this particular authors. Sometimes t gardener came across as being really stupid or maybe unrealistically naive would B a kinder way of saying it.

I giggled and gaffawed my through the entire book. Exactly what I needed on a cold winter's day. Afterwards, I realized that along the way I had gleaned a lot of useful garden tips in between the laughs.
