Product Description

From the Inside Flap

In this practical and entertaining guide, the top veterinarians and animal experts in the country offer more than 1,000 effective tips for treating common pet problems, such as: allergies, bad breath, ear mites, fleas, itchy skin, paw problems, teething pain, weepy eyes, and wounds. But, much more than a guide to the physical and emotional problems of pets, "The Doctors Book of Home Remedies for Dogs and Cats also provides solutions to some of the toughest behavior problems, letting pet owners know when it is necessary to visit the vet--and what they can do until they get there. Since the health needs of dogs and cats are often entirely different, there are also specific tips for both cats and dogs, along with more than 75 easy-to-follow illustrations. Having this ultimate do-it-yourself pet-care book is like having a veterinarian on call 24 hours a day.

this book recently came in very handy. 1 of the 5 month old puppies was playing with his dad and daddy got a little to rough-the puppy got a renched neck-I didn't know how much apirin I was supposed to give him for the pain-but I rmembered I had this book so I looked under Apirin-then pain and it said 1/4 325miliigrams per 10lbs of body weight-since the puppy weighs about 45lbs I gave him a whole aspirin and after about 30min he was playing again like nothing was wrong.

We have a couple of animals - 2 dogs and 3 cats. This book has saved us so much time and stress and money! We are able to get an idea of what is wrong with our animals while waiting for our vet appointment. This takes a lot of the worry away from us knowing that there is no immediate danger. Our neighbors are amazingly envious of this book, so we are going to get each of the a copy when we move.

I have three dogs and each is different, this book has given me lots of helpful hints. It gives you enough information to know when it's time to see a vet, or if you can handle a situation on your own. But never leads you to believe it takes the place of your vet. Loads of information for a dog or cat owner. I am very pleased with my choice.

WHILE THIS VOLUME TOUCHES UPON SOME VERY HELPFUL REMEDIAL TREATMENT, IT SERVED AS A KIND OF "TEASER" FOR THE READER WHO REQUIRES SOME MORE DEPTH AND COMPREHENSIVENESS. IT MAKES YOU WANT TO LOOK FOR MORE ELSEWHERE.
