How To Change Blades
To change blades hold the cutting head by the sides with one hand while unscrewing it from the handle. Once the handle has been removed, lift the bottom plate by pinching the corners to avoid the edges of the blade. Tilt your fingers allowing the used blade to fall out and drop a new blade onto the top of the cutting head. Place the new blade and tighten the handle to securely assemble the razor again.

As far as this Utopia razor. The head on mine has blade alignment problems. The blade loads off center so one side has more blade reveal than the other side. It also takes some fiddling with the razor tabs to get the blade straight but that happens on better razors too. The handle is OK. The chrome plating seems intact and it's made of brass so it should not corrode. But the weak spot is the spot welded screw on the head that rusts and breaks off when over tightened. The good news if you bought one of these is that you can order a V3 head from Maggard's that will work with this 'just ok' handle.
Or you could just spend $50 on a Merkur 34C, or a Edwin Jagger D89 (two excellent beginner razors) and never have to worry. I recommend going to the Maggard website to buy a razor. Also there is 'the Italian Barber' website which is excellent and has cool shave soaps and balms.
Enjoy your wet shave!
Immediate likes: the blades are easy to install, the handle and head have a really nice weight to them and the packaging makes you feel like you're an important person.
I've never used a safety razor before, so I figured I would slice up my legs and underarms while swearing furiously. This was not the case. On my first and second tries, I got a couple of small cuts, but nothing more than the average pink-plastic reality I lived with before. So I was pleased, especially since I hadn't gotten over the learning curve yet.
Here is where I get impressed: I hadn't shaved my legs in 6 months. Seriously. I call it 'Canadian Female in Winter Mode'. And this just did the job, quickly and quietly with an unassuming attitude. Like asking someone from Olivia Pope's team to 'take care of someone', it was done, cleaned up and looking spiffy for the next round like nothing had ever happened.
For me, whenever I neglect my shaving (let's be honest: that's all the time), it can be hell to get hair out from between the blades of a multi-blade razor. And this was no problem to clean up. I also didn't use shaving cream, and instead I opted for a good 'ole bar of soap. It worked great.
I've read that not all blades are made equal, so while the Derby blades that come with this have worked out well for me, I'm looking forward to buying a variety pack of different brands and testing them out.
Were there any negatives? I guess the handle got a little slippery in the shower, but I didn't drop it (yet). And I suppose that when I do drop it, it could damage the tub or myself. Additionally, I've got a toddler, and I don't leave it in the shower. This sucker is sharp.
-You feel like a man when shaving
-The WEIGHT of it is perfect, and it just "glides" on your skin
-Build quality is solid. It will survive war.
-None that I can think of so far, asides from that the razors could be better quality but that's a nit pick
I can't grow a beard to save my life and I have a naturally well defined jawline, facial hair is my enemy.
Purchasing awful disposable blades is a thing of the past now! Feels good, doesn't build up ''gunk'' when shaving like usual razors with thirty damn blades.
One thing of note, Don't put too much pressure when using this or you WILL slice your face wide open. At first, don't shave in the morning or right before anything important, might take some getting used to. Shave at night before bed, give the potential cuts time to heal.
After a few shaves when you'll have the hang of it, go nuts.
I have to go back and dry shave for a while to get clean shave.
I have gone back to my feather safety razor which ALWAYS serves me well.
