HASH(0xa067e7c8) out of 5 stars Fantasy kids' series that will appeal to toddlers & preschoolers April 24 2009
By Z Hayes - Published on Amazon.com
My 4-year-old likes the fantasy and make-believe elements in Dragon Tales - the story of a pair of siblings who go off into a fantasy world inhabited by dragons appeals to her as she likes making up stories and playing make-believe. The bonus is that the language is clean and each episode has a positive message such as the importance of sharing, playing fair, being responsible, not hitting, not lying, jealousy and how to deal with it etc.

The focus of the episodes on this DVD is on showing consideration for others and being sensitive to their feelings. There are 5 episodes in all: "No Hitter", "The Mefirst Wizard", "Give Zak a Hand", "Teasing is Not Pleasing", and "Play It and Say It". There's a quick start feature that plays all the episodes instantenously. There are no bonus features and the total running time is 64 mins.

I like all Dragon Tales. I didn't care for this dvd as much because the first episode "No Hitter" was a little more harsh than usual because Max hit Emmy in the arm, and she was crying. I felt bad for her.

The "Mefirst Wizard" episode was too boring because nothing really happened. All that took place was the Mefirst Wizard running around the obstacle course, and the dragons reciting a rhyme to make the wizard go away.

"Give Zak A Hand" was one that I liked. I liked the music to the head, shoulders, knees, and toes game.

In the episode "Teasing Is Not Pleasing", once again I felt bad for Emmy. She gets bullied by two other dragons on another team, and she is the nicest person. It did teach Emmy not to allow their teasing to bother her.

The last episode "Play It And Say It" is my least favorite because I do not like Norm because he seems tricky and mischievous.

Since we recently canceled our cable subscription I have been trying to get a collection of my 2 year old's favorite shows. This was one of them. Hopefully it will help him learn to play fair, but I wouldn't expect it to really, he just loves the dragons!

All the Dragon Tales videos have been a hit with my daughter. She likes the characters and she can relate to the stories. She really enjoyed them when she was younger 3 1/2 to 4 1/2, though she does watch them every now and again.
