Product Description

Dr. Sara Alderson didn’t think she had a problem in the world, when she walked into the office for her first day as a partner in her own medical practice. And then the police showed up and arrested her for a crime she couldn’t possibly have committed. Twenty four hours later, after a horrifying day and night in jail, Sara comes home a different – and completely broken – woman.

Clearing her name is her first challenge, but that’s nothing compared to the task of rebuilding her shattered psyche. And the only way she can do that is with the help of the supernatural dreams, the same dreams that have nearly cost Sara her sanity – and almost got her killed – in the past.

Dream Family is the fourth book of the Dream Series.

HASH(0xa34ade94) out of 5 stars Each book is more intriguing than the last!! Jan. 26 2014

Format: Kindle Edition
J.J.DiBenedetto’s 4th book in the Dream series is the most heart shattering, yet beautiful, of all so far. He continues with the life of Doctor Sara Alderson, and her beloved family. Sara and her former boss,Laurie, from Children’s Hospital are just opening a new private practice in Washington, D.C., and before their very first day of work is even over, a horrible twist of fate slams Sara’s world into turmoil.

Sara is happily working, when she is suddenly being arrested and taken to jail for what is going to be one of the biggest nightmares of her life. Thrust into a horrid situation, because of a greedy woman, and a corrupt and self-serving Prosecuting Attorney, Sara’s entire life, and the lives of all who love her, are about to embark on a terrible and emotional journey that is far from Sara’s control. Sara has to call upon a man from her past that she loathes, but he is the only one who can help.

Throughout the story, we find Sara, who has always been there for everyone else, now unable to face even her own demons. Be prepared feel your own heart ache for all that Sara must endure in this very raw, and very emotional installment of the Dream series. See her strength as she continues to help others, even while losing her own battles. Characters from Sara’s past become intertwined in her current life, and we begin to feel close to them just as we have Sara and Brian and the rest of her family.

Dream Family will completely absorb you as you battle throughout trying to control your own tears as you walk right beside of Sara through each and every emotional scene. You’ll feel compelled to reach over and hold her close to you as she breaks down, and breaks away, from the demons that she has deeply hidden in her soul in this one. In the end though, you will realize that the love you have in your life, and the very existence of those around you, is what truly makes everything in this life, beautiful.

HASH(0xa34adf0c) out of 5 stars Hard Book to Review May 24 2015

Format: Kindle Edition
I received a free copy of the audiobook and ebook for an honest review.

Dream Family is the fourth book in the Dream Series. I listened to the first two books, Dream Student and Dream Doctor, and they were okay but I liked the third book, Dream Child, a lot more, so I was looking forward to reading this book.

This is one of those reviews that is difficult to write because I am torn. When Sara is in jail for one night, she loses her identification and, at times, even forgets who she is, who her kids are, who her husband is. And it traumatizes her beyond anything I could imagine. For the first time, I couldn’t empathize with her, I pitied her. Like Paul Sorrentino said, “Doctor? Dr. Alderson? Get a grip. It was one day, and it’s over and done with.”

On the other hand, I was able to wade through the rambling and self pity and the rest of the story was good. Sara’s dreams are changing in interesting ways and she and her mom are able to use their dreams to help themselves and others.

I feel like I’ve really gotten to know the characters. I think that’s one reason I didn’t care for Sara’s reaction to being jailed. She’s always been so strong. Brian, her husband, is still patient, loving, and unwavering. My favorite character is still their precocious, intelligent, adorable daughter, Lizzie.

I did start with the audio version of this book but I had to switch to the ebook version. I liked reading this better so I could skip some of the rambling.

HASH(0xa313b360) out of 5 stars Dark, realistic, hopeful, and a great addition to the series July 3 2014
By Sheila Deeth - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Dream Family is the fourth novel in author J. J. DiBenedetto’s Dream Series, and it’s the darkest one so far. It’s also the deepest and most hauntingly real, making it a great addition to this family-oriented story that goes from strength to strength.

Sarah has always seemed such a strong, determined protagonist. Readers might imagine she can conquer every mountain, as might she. But now she starts to crack under the strain. Falsely accused, stripped from all she holds dear, she spirals into a depression that threatens to overwhelm everyone around her. Dreams that once called her to help others might hold the answer to how she can help herself. But maybe these others need help as well. And maybe in helping others she’ll find the right path.

Several mysteries intertwine in this novel, with just enough hints for readers to guess the answers before Sarah does. But the novel’s more than mystery, and more than tragedy. In the midst of it all, Sarah will learn more about herself, in sickness and in health... and in dreams as well.

Great characters and relationships lift the novel above tragedy, add humor and pathos, and set the scene for more to come in the series. I really enjoyed this one and just wish I hadn't waited so long to read it.

Disclosure: I was given a free ecopy and I offer my honest review.

HASH(0xa313b6fc) out of 5 stars Truly Riveting amazing story! (spoilers) July 14 2013

I just had the privilege of reading Dream Family by J.J. DiBenedetto and I must say this is one that really takes you into the head of the character. JJ was so descriptive that you felt like you were living in the story! Sara is very endearing as a character and I had so much sympathy for her in the beginning. The jail sequences and dream sequences were amazing and so true to life. I would have to literally force myself to put this book down because I would get caught up in the story. My favorite character was 5 year old Lizzie I must say. I loved her innocence and to the pointedness that reminds me of my daughter. JJ is an excellent writer and this is actually the first book from his set that I have read and it is wonderful even if it was a standalone. I went into the dream sequences he wrote and thought Holy Jeepers whats going to happen next! All in all this is a very entertaining and interesting story that I truly enjoyed and would recommend to anyone! Reviewed by Lee Ryder of Fae Books
