Thank goodness this book didn't cost me a cent, even from a book store bargain bin. I borrowed it from the local library; even then, I could only bother to read it half way through, Emperor Peddie's 'Gee Aren't I Swell,' self congratulatory back slap on the back. The most ridiculous part of the book speaks of what a great GM he thought hired in Toronto Maple Leafs' GM Brian Burke. In the same paragraph, Peddie tells us that Burke got poor results during the years he ran the team. You can't tell us that the guy's a great GM while admitting that he did a lousy job. He glosses over his appointment of John Ferguson Jr., the GM prior to Burke. Clearly, Peddie had no respect for the position of General Manager; otherwise, he wouldn't have hired someone with zero experience for it. That was a very serious error, one that could have been avoided by a competent CEO, instead of Peddie. If you need a book about 1/2 thick to act as a doorstop somewhere in your home, this is it. Otherwise.............

Too much about Peddie and his life outside of sports, not enough about the "Dream Job" that he makes you think it is all about. Be warned.
