This is my first book by Margaret McHeyzer, what a great one to start with. I honestly didn’t think I could make it through this book. There was a point when my heart was so broken I doubted she could put it back together. Well, I ripped off the band-aid so to speak……powered through……I’m so glad I did!!! It’s such an emotional story full of tears, smiles, chuckles, both heartfelt and heartbreaking moments. One I won’t soon forget.
I’m not going to tell you what it’s about, you can read that in the description. I can tell you that it’s a story that captured my heart, broke it into a million pieces and managed to make it whole again, full circle. It’s a beautiful story of Friendship, Love and Compassion, Selflessness, Promises, Courage and Strength, the journey of life, it’s challenges and moving forward. It’s beginnings and endings…..more beginnings.
I loved all of these characters; Alice, Becky, Elijah, Mike, Nicki……the entire community and how they all work together to show their love and support. I love the little hints along the way that gave me hope. I love how Alice knew, encouraged and put a plan in place for her friends and family to bring them together to help them heal. I know they kept asking but, I felt she was talking to them all along they just weren’t ready to listen. I love the rain.....the tree…..the key…..the heart…..the letters……OMG even the elephant, lol!! Thank you Margaret McHeyzer for an amazing story, the next time I see the Nutcracker I will think of Alice, I’ll make sure to have some tissue handy.

** Review by Gayle from Bloggers from Down Under **

You’re my perfect, you’re my salvation, you’re my everything

It’s not often…No let me re-phrase….
It’s so rare as reader that you come across a book that will completely swallow you whole, and I mean that in every sense of the word, but Dying Wish did that to me.
Brutal, highly confronting, emotional to the highest of degrees, heartbreaking, soul changing, gut wrenching….
These are the only words I can give to explain to you all how I felt reading this.
It completely broke me, shattered my heart, splintered my very core, and even after finishing it a day a go, I am still not sure how I can explain to you what this book did to me.
This book for me was everything I could have honestly asked for and so much more.

We meet three beautiful souls, young and carefree, the world is at their feet. They are best friends, soul mates….Alice, Elijah and Rebecca.
Alice and Rebecca are inseparable.
Best friends since as far back as they can remember, they have a special bond, sisters in fact and nothing will ever get between them.
Elijah….He has watched Alice at a distance. He has known her since forever and wants nothing more than to speak to her, to hold her, to declare his feelings for her.
He wants more with her.
And Alice…She wants more with him.
They will get their more?

This is their story.
A story about hope and strength
A story about fear and pain.
A story about friendship and love that will never be broken.

Please hear me when I say you need to read this. Dying Wish is a novel that will stay with me always. It will be forever ingrained into my heart and soul, and I know it will forever stay with you.

This was a real tear jerker emotional story, even more like full on sob fest. Alice is an aspiring ballet dancer whose only goal is to make it on a big stage. Dance is all she thinks about until her fate decides something else. Elijah's been in love with Alice since they were in elementary school. He is just too scared to show her his true feelings. When he finally gets brave enough to show her his love, she gets the worse news of her life.

This story is divided into two parts, before and after the death. This book just didn't work out for me. I love Margaret McHeyzer's book Mistrust. It's one of my favourite books of all times but this book didn't spin that magic for me. I couldn't connect with Alice or Elijah. The good part of the first half Alice was just too distant from Elijah. She was hot one minute and cold the next. I didn't feel any real chemistry between the two.

This book just wasn't for me but I'll still be reading more from this author.

I read this over two days. It's a big book and now my eyes are sore! Haven't cried this much since "The Fault in Our Stars." Great tear jerker.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you're looking for a book to cry the whole way through, this is it. Feb. 28 2017

So sad! I don't think I've ever cried more during a book. It actually didn't end when she did, but continued with her friends after her. I had to take a break and let my emotions recover before reading the second part.

5 Stars!
Tissues are definitely needed to read this book. I cried, my heart ached for the characters, and I never wanted so badly to reach into the fictional world and hug a character as much as I did in this book.
Excellent job, Margaret! Another must read for everyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Jan. 16 2017

I wish I could hate you for all the tears and snot bubbles caused while reading your novel. I wish I could hate you for the lack of sleep due to needing to read this book. I wish I could hate you for your eloquence of your written word. I wish most of all to be able to write even half as well as what you are able to.
I cannot hate you, not even a little bit. I'm in awe of the beautiful story you have written, and how it has woven its way into my heart. I can only hope I can affect a reader as deeply as you have with myself.
Thank you for your talent. Thank you for sharing this story. I am looking forward to reading more of your work in the future.
