HASH(0x9cd78924) out of 5 stars A little young April 28 2013

This was a really cute book but I had wanted a book for my eight year old grandson who is a mature reader and although the theme was cute, it was a little young for him.
HASH(0x9cd78b70) out of 5 stars Another hilarious read-aloud by Jan Thomas March 20 2012
By Lori Calabrese - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
All of you Jan Thomas fans out there will be excited to grab her latest, THE EASTER BUNNY'S ASSISTANT. In Rhyming Dust Bunnies fashion, Thomas has comprised another funny interactive read-aloud that will have young readers roaring.

The book kicks off with who else? The Easter Bunny of course and he introduces us to his assistant, skunk. They're going to show us how to make beautiful Easter eggs. However, as they're hard-boiling the eggs, Easter Bunny wonders, "What is that smell?" Skunk apologizes and replies, "It happens when I get excited." Skunk is instructed to control himself, but he finds every step of coloring eggs "Exciting" which causes a continuous problem. How will the Easter Bunny color all of the eggs without that smell? (Not to mention, hide them?)

Young readers will really get a kick out of this one and find it hilarious. The illustrations really add to the story and they'll enjoy the instructions at the end for making beautiful eggs. And hopefully when you color your own, we can only hope you won't have a skunk in the room!
HASH(0x9cd78db0) out of 5 stars A story time must! March 19 2012
By J.Prather - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
What a wonderful Easter present from Jan Thomas. Once again we are gifted with bold lined, bright and charming animals that address the story reader directly. This time it's a bunny rabbit and he's making Easter eggs. Skunk is his assistant, which is great except for one thing - everytime skunk gets excited, he does what skunks do. This book provides every opportunity for the story reader to fully engage with the audience, as skunk tries very hard not to get excited. Sure, it's a one-gag book, but it is a very funny one that is a guaranteed winner. As always, the pages that are devoid of text and only show the characters expressive faces are the funniest, and it's when the rabbit addresses the reader that the book really shines in all its interactive possibilities.

At the end of the story are directions for making rabbit's beautiful eggs, including step 4: "Look to see if there is a skunk in the room. If there is...remove it!"

This is simply a story time must have. Don't miss it!
HASH(0x9cd7b048) out of 5 stars Superfunny, great for storytime! April 5 2012
By N. Frost - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
I like Jan Thomas a lot but I LOVE that she wrote a simple, funny Easter book. Those are as rare as rubies and diamonds in the children's lit world but she has accomplished it with her usual charm. Kids love this stuff. I read to two groups of storytime children and they adored it. A stinky but lovable skunk helps the Easter bunny dye eggs. Turns out the task is just so exciting skunk can't help but...spray. Thanks, Jan!
HASH(0x9cd7b33c) out of 5 stars Darling story about accepting one's differences May 25 2016
By Kim Davis - Published on Amazon.com

This is a darling book for children 3-7. Easter Bunny gets a little help from skunk while dying Easter Eggs. Skunk may get a little too excited!!!! Children will call out responding to Bunny's questions. Wonderful story about accepting people-- or skunks for who they are. A must read in preschool or kindergarten!
