- Customer Reviews:
Rather than presenting an esoteric borrowing from Indian culture, Judith employs the metaphoric language of the chakra system within the context of modern psychology. Her clear organization and numerous charts make browsing for subjects of personal relevance a breeze, and her comparison of the various maps of psychological development (Freudian, Piagetian, Eriksonian, Reichian, and others) is intriguing. The book provides a useful tool for contemplating our strengths, weaknesses, and appropriate approaches to growth. -Yoga Journal". . . [S]parkles with insight. I loved this book for the understanding I found on the areas in my body I am not connected to and how that would manifest as personality traits, symptoms, or long term challenges in your life. I am curious to see how the newest book, wheels of life I believe its called is... this book I found focused on negative things you want to be aware of if the chakra is unbalanced but I do wish it went into detail of alot more joyful things, and lots more tips on opening up areas (ie: painting for this or a journal exercise, a meditation, etc). Overall its a beautiful book to have and refer to time again for yourself and for those around you. I used this book for a couple assisgnments for my yoga teacher training as well. So great for diving into chakras and continuing education. Enjoy

This is one of my favourite books, and I am an avid reader. It is very accessible and VERY dense. Don’t expect to read through this in a few days. Great holistic healing reference guide. Strongly recommend!!

This book has become a part of my heart. It reads so easily, you don't feel your mind wandering like it tends to do with some books of the same genre. It is easy to relate to and understand because it all makes perfect sense. Highly recommend!

fantastic implementation of complex childhood trauma and most realReviewed in the United Kingdom on July 14, 2018
fantastic implementation of complex childhood trauma and most real, matured modern psychology insights into different chakras - therefore energy and state of different body parts.. I have been reading about psychology for so long to sort out my own emotions and Judith managed to collect all most sound methods and explanations in the book, in the right chapters. It is so good to read it all.

Great synthesisReviewed in the United Kingdom on October 6, 2019
I asked the woman who had just given me a phenomenal massage if there was one book you would recommend to read what would it be and she said this one so I bought it, and wow yes although it is a few years old now, and I have been vaguely familiar with chakra theory and fairly well versed in western psychology over the years this was a great synthesis which made me realise just how "disembodied" a lot of western psychology has been, or treating the body as a kind of sideline. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in either eastern energy-body theories or western psychology--a brilliant synthesis which has vastly expanded my understanding.

Must have for those interested in chakrasReviewed in the United Kingdom on September 23, 2018
Fantastic book. Great information on the chakras and there function in human psychology and how affected both negatively and positively by life situations, with some but not much detail on how to heal.

Very informative readReviewed in the United Kingdom on December 3, 2016
Really wonderful book providing deeper insight into the chakras, what each chakra represents, reasons they maybe out of balance and what you can do to help re-balance them. A lot of information in here. I have read from cover to cover but I think I will continue to refer back to and dip in and out of this book for a long time.

InterestingReviewed in the United Kingdom on March 1, 2019
I love how this book marries psychology and the chakras as stages in development as humans. Also, body shapes. It's a holistic almost-framework to help practitioners better identify themselves and their clients. Very useful.
