The Eccotemp L5 Portable Tankless Water Heater is the original and best selling portable water heater on the market today. A Bestcovery.com best point of use gas water heater, this outdoor installed unit is portable enabling you to get instant, endless hot water wherever you are. The Eccotemp L5 portable tankless water heater is perfect for campsites, cabins, or simply around the house. Wash your car, wash your boat, take a hot shower, wash the dogs or the horse. The ignition is with 2 "D" cell batteries so it makes it great for off grid or other areas where electricity is not readily available. The ideal operating range for the Eccotemp L5 portable tankless water heater is 20~80 PSI. The system also works great on modified water systems such as a 12 volt pump. Available in liquid propane only. Eccotemp has become the brand people trust with 24/7 technical support available toll free at 866-356-1992. TROUBLE SHOOTING Unit will not start – there are no audible clicks at startup: a. The first thing to check is to ensure that the incoming water on the "right" side of the unit. If the incoming and outgoing are reversed, the unit will not work. The incoming is on the far right and the outgoing is in the middle. b. The "On/Off" switch should be with the “—“ sign pushed down. c. Check to make sure you have fresh batteries and they are installed in the correct position. d. Number one reason that the unit does not ignite is that there is not enough water pressure. You need to make sure that you have a minimum of 20 PSI of sustained water pressure. ADJUSTMENT: Looking up at the bottom of the unit, you will see 2 oval holes in the case. The hole that is furthest on the right looks up at the water regulator where you will see two Philip head screws. Take the screw that is furthest on the right in about a ¼ or ½ turn. This will enable the unit to operate on a lower water pressure by restricting flow. There is a simple test that we can help you perform if you are unaware if you have enough water pressure. Please call our tech support line at 866.356.1992 for further instructions. 9 8. Turn the spray nozzle to the “on” and adjust to the desired water pattern on the shower head. 9. There will be a series of audible clicks and the burner will ignite. (Should the burner not ignite after 5 seconds, shut off and go to the “Trouble Shooting” section.) 10. After use, open the drain valve (ribbed cylindrical stem next to the water input valve) to ensure draining of water.

Absolutely loving this I have it set up on a tree out front of the cabin and I use it for everything including doing my dishes and any hot water on demand purposes. Propane lasts forever on a 30 pound tank and just be careful setting up as it does use propane and can reach scalding temps so takes some dialing in and reading instructions is a must.. But once installed this provides me with a hot shower in the deep woods with no running water I have a rain barrel filled, a hose into the barrel, the other end into a pump and then another hose from the pump to the ecotemp itself. And it does a fine job and I absolutely love it. Simple and easy to install just be cautious and aware. Nothing quite like showering in the sun with birds chirpin around you..

I bought this unit to provide hot water to our kitchen sink at the cabin. So the shower attachment was of no use to me. The unit itself is very well made......and considering the price....it was hard for me to believe it was so well made. I am off grid and was prepared to have to add in the pump to get the water pressure needed to run this unit (that is enough water flow/pressure to turn on the heater). I was pleased when it actually worked with just the pressure from the water reservoir. I am sure it is less than what they state as the required minimum of 20 lbs of pressure. I discovered if you turn the water flow setting lower it comes on with less water pressure. The manual also states that there are a couple of screws you can adjust to reduce the flow even further....so theoretically could run with even lower water pressure.

This is a great product and a bargain at this price. Before purchasing the heater I read all of the past reviews and decided that the negatives were not that serious. Having received the item, installing it and using it for the past 3 weeks I am totally satisfied with it. The company seems to have listened to past reviews and have upgraded the hose so that is no longer an issue, besides I prefer to have an inline valve at the water inlet rather than using the hand wand shut-off. Installation was a breeze. All the parts were included so all you really need is propane tank and a normal garden hose. Water temp is shower hot at max setting (heating control at max and water flow at min setting) if you want it hotter still you have to reduce the flow of water into the unit, hence the value of having the inline valve.

I had the most amazing 1st shower at a campground last week using the Ecotemp and a new shower tent. No more trekking off to a public shower. I would have rated this unit higher if it had: 1. longer braided hose (the provided hose did not reach the hanging strap in our shower tent 2. a more substantial & adjustable shower nozzle (need one that adjusts for filling buckets and not just showering) 3. a way to regulate the water pressure (the campground pressure was surprisingly way too high for this unit and we had to nearly shut off the outdoor tap in order to regulate the Ecotemp. All that being said, it heats water! I recommend buying the quick connectors available online to simplify the hook-up process. Also we used a movable metal cart on which to mount the propane tank and the unit itself (hey, there's not always a tree handy to hang the unit on).

Great little hot water on demand. We use it when we go camping for a hot shower. The water is heated immediately and the shower head makes the water come out a bit mist like which saves a lot of water while still providing enough water for you to clean yourself. Definitely would buy again

We first bought this unit about 5 years ago and it provides the only hot water at our cabin (other than the kettle!). Initially our cabin did not have a water supply, so we installed roof rain water collection and a pressure on demand pump (another great item!). We built an outdoor shower and hooked the Eccotemp unit to the hose and to a propane tank - and instant hot water shower - it works great - two batteries provide the spark and it really is easy to start. It has made our visits to the cabin even more enjoyable. I bought a new one as I noticed some rust on the outside and would not want to be without this. I did not think the bigger unit they sell was necessary as we generally have 2 to 4 people for half the summer.

Had the heater up and running in less than an hour. Got its first use today with our standard poodle and it worked like a dream. So nice for the dog to get rinsed off with warm water after her runs instead of using the cold hose water and for us not to bend over while washing her in the bathtub. Based on only its first use, I would recommend this product for dog owners. Hope it stands up to constant usage in the long term.

After 8 months of use, this heater is still working well. It was outside for much of the year and it had some problems in high winds, but with a bit of shielding it works great. I would recommend this product to dog owners, since it uses warm water rather than a cold shower from a garden hose.

Purchased the Eccotemp L5 with the idea of using it as a water pre-heater for my Softub hot tub. Well I finally got around to using it and it certainly made a difference. Initially it wouldn't stay on for longer than 30 seconds. So I looked through the troubleshooting section and it stated the thermocouple in the heat exchanger needs to be flush with the housing. It was out about 3/16", so I pushed it gently until it was flush in the hole and viola it worked. Turned the gas up full and the water flow down and went from 14c in from the tap to 30c out to the tub. Took a while to add the 500 or so liters of water I need but just had to reset the on/off switch every 15 minutes. Once that was done I used a small pump to recirculate the water in the tub through the unit to get the water up to target temperature of 38c/100f. Well this was a surprise as the in flow of water was 34c into the heater and the out flow was over 70c so I turned the gas down and the flow to max and still got 50c water out. I didn't want to damage my garden hose from the hot water. So I used a few pounds of propane but saved on 16 to 20 hours of the tub running to recover from the partial drain and fill of my hot tub. Had it all done in 3 hrs.
