From the Back Cover
They are called Feral Warriors—an elite band of immortals who can change shape at will. Sworn to rid the world of evil, consumed by sorcery and seduction, their wild natures are primed for release . . .
Shattered by recent nightmarish events, Hawke feels his bond with his animal spirit weakening—and once it breaks, he’s finished. The arrival of Faith sends his life spinning even further out of control, for although she delights him and enflames his deepest primal passions, she’s promised to Maxim, the newest Feral Warrior.
Faith is drawn to Hawke from the start, but Maxim holds her in his thrall and has secretly bent her to his malevolent will. Though gravely damaged, Hawke is the only one who can end Faith’s slavery and protect the Feral Warriors from Maxim’s evil designs. Something I find really impressive about this series is how Ms. Palmer seems to effortlessly create a completely different hero and heroine for each story. It wouldn't be surprising if all the men were virtual carbon copies of each other, having only different animal spirits and abilities to set them apart, but they are as unique as the animals they embody. And the women! Oh the women are such a pleasure to read about! This is the sixth book in the series, so there are now six distinctly different female personalities (seven if you count Pink, but she's not really that fleshed out... no pun intended). Faith could easily come off as a boring self-sacrificing volunteer worker who swoons for her new man, but she doesn't. Faith has real innate strength and drive, and her own deep-seated insecurities, hidden under that 1,000 watt smile.
The Ferals are hot. They always have been and, Ms. Palmer willing, they will continue to be. Hawke is a bird shifter (the Ferals' only flying form) and has always been respectable, intelligent, and loyal. In previous books, I don't remember thinking "man, I really wanna read Hawke's story!" (I most definitely thought that about Jag! Oh how I <3 Jag!!) because, while he was always prominent in the action and a friendly, attractive member of the team, he never stood out for me. Hawke really took on new life in this book and came into his own. Not only is he yummy, smexy goodness, he's got a brain and he's not afraid to use it. We see why he's possibly the luckiest of the Ferals with his ability to fly, and get insight into how the Feral-Spirit shifter bond works.
One of the hallmarks of this series is its cliffhanger endings. Ms. Palmer always wraps up the main romance plot and then leaves us with something shocking to worry about for the next 6-12 months. Well Ecstasy Untamed is no different, so if that bothers you, "brace yourself, Effie!" If you DO enjoy the anticipating and the waiting, you won't be disappointed with this ending! One thing to note: if you have NOT read the rest of this series and don't want to see major spoilers for it, start with Desire Untamed (Feral Warriors book #1) and work your way up from there. =)
One must always be prepared when meeting the rockstars of the immortal world...
"The Chief?" The words were out before she could stop them. She wrinkled her nose. "Sorry, I'm afraid I'm a little starstruck. I wish I had an autograph book."
Blasting stereotypes since 2009...
Faith had always imagined the Radiant to be a queen among immortals, reserved, royal. Kara stood in bare feet, a pair of jeans, and a t-shirt that read Team Jacob across the profile of a howling wolf. And called herself a power plug.
Is a woman truly ever "too old" to appreciate good man-candy?
Olivia sighed. "I'm afraid you're probably right, Faith, as much as I hate to admit it. Half the women on the planet would lust for our Feral Warriors if they got anywhere near them. The other half are too young, too old, or into other women."
I was thinking "stronger", but this works too!
"What doesn't kill you makes you obsessed."
Finally, someone with a comeback!
Jag snorted. "I'm not missing this show. Just wait til you see what she can do, Foxy."
Fox cut Jag an amused look. "Looking forward to it, Jaggy."
If you were thinking that the Feral Warriors were becoming a little too predictable and formulaic, Ecstasy Untamed will reinvigorate your love for the series. All the things you've been wondering, all the unspoken restrictions you questioned, all the little mysteries we've been teased with throughout the last five books are finally revealed... and some of them are things you may have just taken for granted! This book breaks all the rules and breathes new passion, danger, and intrigue back into one of paranormal romance's best series. Ecstasy Untamed has everything you've been waiting for, and more! If you're a fan of the Feral Warriors series, you do not want to miss Ecstasy Untamed!!
For me this was by far the darkest, but the best book of the series. I was gasping and "Oh, no"...ing through the whole book. Lots and LOTS of jaw dropping surprises in this one. Annnnnd you know I don't do spoilers, but I will tell you to have your reading routine set up, because once you start, you will NOT put this book down. For those unfamiliar with the series, the Ferals are a group of other beings, who have been chosen by a spirit animal to become basically immortal and protect the races, Therians and humans from the evil Mages who work for evil and darkness. They are guided and fed by The Radiant, a female who is always mated to a feral, and connects with the Earth's energies. They are hunted by Mages, practitioners of dark magic and keeper of demons. Pamela Palmer has created a very detailed and compelling world with her Feral series.
In his book, Hawke is much darker. Whereas before the spirit trap Hawke was actually one of the more laid back, calmer Ferals, in this book, the opposite is completely true. Faith was a good match for Hawke. She is a Therian who has secrets, and Maxim capitalizes on those secrets. Oh, and Maxim. He is such a tool of a villain. Ms. Palmer out did herself with this one. Ugh! I love the fact that even though each book focuses on an individual Feral's story, the others always have a huge impact and their lives continue to progress in each book. Even though they get a HEA, it doesn't necessarily stay that way. You can NOT go wrong reading this book. It is one of the best reads you'll have all year.
Ecstasy Untamed in the sixth book in the FERAL WARRIORS series and is the story of the Feral Warrior Hawke. The Feral Warriors are of a race called Therian. The spirit of an animal marks a Therian that the animal spirit considers worthy. The Therian will then notice they have been marked by claw marks appearing on their body. They must then make their way to Feral House, the home of the Feral Warriors - the warriors that protect the Therian race from evil and extinction. Once the newly marked Therian arrives at Feral House, a ceremony is done to bring the warrior into his animal and giving that warrior immortality.
After just recently being saved from the spirit trap, Hawke is having a hard time with his bird half. The Hawke is fighting for control and Hawke is terrified to let that happen after certain events happened with his father, so Hawke is having an internal struggle with his animal. The Feral Warriors just received word that the new Fox has been marked and making his way to Feral House. But with the Fox comes his intended mate, Faith, and a whole lot of trouble.
Faith is a Therian female that has no family or home. She travels to different countries and cities trying to help young girls on the street find their way. She meets Maxim who states that he has been marked as a Feral Warrior and that he is making his way to Feral House. He claims Faith is his intended mate and that he wants Faith to go with him. Being marked as a Feral Warrior is considered a true honor among the Therian race so Faith is intrigued by Maxim and feels a pull towards him so she agrees to go and try things out.
When Faith and Maxim arrive at Feral House, all hell starts breaking loose and chaos erupts. Maxim is a huge arrogant jerk and everyone hates him. Faith is starting to doubt how she can be the mate of such a nasty man. Faith feels an instant connection to Hawke when she meets him and is confused as to how she can be Maxim's mate and so attracted to Hawke. Maxim also notices the instant connection that Faith and Hawke have so Maxim and Hawke are constantly at odds. The Ferals learn that not only were Hawke and Tighe saved from the spirit trap, so were the other 13 animal spirits that were trapped in there. Therians are calling from all over the world claiming they have been marked and are making their way to Feral House. Lyon and the other warriors are ecstatic that they will have more warriors to help fight the evil mage but all is not as it seems.
FERAL WARRIORS is another of my all time favorite series. I've been hooked since the first book, "Desire Untamed" was released. Every book gets better and better. The series is full of action, suspense, plot twists, hot alpha shifters and great romance. Ecstasy Untamed was just that and more. I don't want to say to much about the romance between Hawke and Faith and give things away but I really enjoyed it. I also loved the struggle that Hawke had with his animal.
If you have not read the FERAL WARRIORS series I definitely recommend that you do. Every book can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading the entire series. So much happens in every book that you won't want to miss any of it.
I give "Ecstasy Untamed" 5 out of 5 stars
The feral warriors have to find a way to save the good ones and release all of them from the darkness, so the next ones marked will be free of this darkness and this won'(t happen again. Add a beautiful young girl who is immortal, who was left behind by her people at age 15 during World War 1, and has pulled herself up and now passes for 18 and now trying to rescue other young girls and get them off the streets. The leader of the evil shape shifters is out looking for young girls to use and kill when they see each other. She doesn't like him at frist, but when they're eyes meet they feel a connection. He tells her they belong together and she will be his mate, she agrees. He is leaving for America in the morning and she will come with him to be mated. Though surprised at herself she says yes but wait on the mating as she doesn't know him yet. When they get there she surprised to find she has a sexual attraction to another warrior while
When we last seen Hawke, he'd just been pulled from the daemon spirit trap. In Ecstasy Untamed, he has awaken but is struggling to stay in control of his body and mind. The animal spirit that allows him to change into a hawk and marks him as one of the 9 Feral Warriors is fighting to take over. It's a bit surprising to see Hawke not in control because he's the calmer, more together Feral. It's not until Faith arrives that he's finally able to have clear thoughts. Faith is Therian, an immortal race in which the Feral Warriors are chosen from. Unlike most of her kind, Faith actually likes being around humans and has devoted her time to help as many get off the street as she can. She's a very caring and thoughtful person and just what Hawke needs. Their feelings for one another are strong and their physical relationship makes you a bit envious of Faith. What I liked most about this pairing is that it isn't about one person saving the other. It's more about them making the other person strong enough so that they can save themselves.
When a Feral dies, the animal spirit living within them finds a new host and it's believed that Maxim is to be the new Fox shifter. Faith and Maxim crossed paths one night and she decides rather quickly to join him on his trip to the Feral House. From the beginning, Faith's relationship with Maxim isn't normal and it becomes obvious that he has a real darkness to him. Soon the others notice it too and discover that their enemies, the Mages, are trying once again to raise Satanan. As much as I disliked Maxim, the man was just pure evil, his character is well developed for the amount of page time he received and I always give kudos to an author that's able to make me hate a fictional person. What I liked about the story in this book and this series is that the Feral Warriors are still fighting the same enemies but in each book there is a new twist added that keeps the story from getting dull and there were a few thrown into this book that kept me guessing till the end.
Ecstasy Untamed is the latest in Pamela Palmer's dark and addicting paranormal romance series. I think these books are for those who can handle a more intense drama and are ok with not having everything wrapped neatly in a bow by the end of each book. I thought this book had less action in it compared to the books before it but thanks to suspense and Hawke's personal struggle, this book kept a good pace and was hard to put down.
