Eighteen is hard.
And so is Mateo Alesci.
Hard to read, hard to predict, hard in every way that counts.
He wants things from me.
Dirty things, nasty things, forbidden things.
And I have to give in.
His attention is completely inappropriate, but I can’t say no.
The way he looks at me… the way he watches me through my bedroom window… the way he drags me deeper and deeper into his completely forbidden fantasy just… turns me on.
He knows it turns me on.
He holds all the power. He holds all the cards. He holds my entire future in his hands.
And I have to give in.
Because Mr. Alesci is my teacher.
And I need everything he’s offering.

This is the first book I have read by J A Huss, it won't be the last !!!!
Loved this story of a forbidden love between a teacher and his student.
Whereas in most forbidden books, which by the way are one of my favourite genre, things build up slowly, they tip toe around each other, sharing furtive glances. Not in this book !!!!!! It gets down and dirty pretty quick and just continues to get hotter and hotter !!!
Mateo Alesci is the hot 28 year old teacher who has been asked to give extra trig lessons to 18 old Shannon. She has had a hard time of it in her short life, but she is fiesty with a smart mouth on her. Mateo has his own secrets and problems, and boy is he a dominant one !!! Doesn't like to take no for an answer and likes his own way and to play mind games with Shannon. I just wanted to pull Shannon in for a big hug, I really felt for this girl. At first I have to admit I wasn't too keen on Mateo, how he approached Shannon was a little bit weird for me but he certainly grew on me especially when his softer loving side comes out. Shannon also meets Sunday, whom she strikes up a really good friendship with , and he looks after Shannon and keeps an eye out for her at all times. I think Sunday was my favourite really, loved his attitude to everything and thought he and Shannon fitted well together .So who does she end up with, if anyone ? This book is a total must read and is made all the more interesting to find that it is based on a true story. Hell Yeah !!!!!!!!!! Why weren't my school days like this lol Seriously, a well written story and one I would recommend without hesitation !!!

Eighteen is just one of the countless reasons why Julie Huss is one of my all time fave authors!! From the first word, this book had it’s hooks in me and I. Could. Not. Put. It . Down.

This story starts on the day of Shannon Drake's 18th birthday. This girl has had a rough life and now finds herself in an unbearable situation with no way out. On top of that, despite being 7 credits over the required number to graduate high school, she's told she needs to take AP Math AGAIN among other credits in order to graduate. I won't go into why as that's not important. What is is her night school Trigonometry teacher, Mr. Mateo Alesci.

Her teacher is hot, domineering, intimidating and did I mention, sex!! Talk about taboo, steamy, forbidden and off the charts explosive!!

For all the things wrong with what their doing, so many things were also right! And, of course, there is so much more going on that I simply can't say more without giving it away.

All I'll say is, you know when you find yourself in a really bad situation and while you know it’s bad, and all the pieces are right in front of you but you miss the picture because you’re punching your instincts in the face trying to shut them up? Well, this is Shannon’s life. And just like that, I also love how Julie gives us the pieces without us even knowing.

While Shannon may be out of her league with Mateo's sexual prowess, the girl gives as good as she gets. If you're a JA Huss fan, this is a MUST READ! And if you're up for an adventure, an unforgettable pull between two characters and steamy, undeniable chemistry, this is a MUST READ!!

I will say I flew through this book. I read it one day, so the writing style and flow were quite good here. That's about all I liked.

If you are even remotely uncomfortable with dubious consent this one is not for you. The relationship in Eighteen is not even remotely a relationship of equals - it never leads you to think it is. Meteo holds all of the power and he isn't afraid to wield it. I'm not a fan. I knew going in that it was a student-teacher story, and I've read quite a few that I've loved because at the core of it, the couples are equal in their depravity. Not so with Mateo and Shannon.

Frankly, I felt like Shannon was an idiot with literally no one decent in her life. Everyone took advantage of her and she was blind to everything. This of course lent itself to the twist, but I just ended up really hating every character by the end of it.

I've enjoyed JA Huss stories in the past, but this one wasn't for me.

The story line should make you cringe...teacher getting involved with a high school aged girl. I'll admit in the beginning it truly did. My thoughts were everywhere. I kind of felt ashamed for enjoying it. Then, as the characters evolved and Shannon progressed in the story with all the different things she was having to deal with, the appropriateness kind of slipped away. This is a story about an eighteen year old (adult, I kept reminding myself) who is thrown so many troubles and issues. I found myself routing for her with every passing chapter. There's aways a fun twist to look forward to at the end of JA Huss' books and this one is no exception.

It truly was a beautiful story and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.
