However, Skyrim has a few flaws in the software. In many places the colours seem to flicker and flash especially when there is high contrast like bright sun. There are a few places where the game quits for no reason and a google search shows that it is a game flaw that happens to many. Also some of the quests get very repetitive. For example to raise gold you can endlessly play the companions quests and are given about 4 possible scenarios in random locations. The repetitive part is the quest givers say the same speech every time even though you have done that same dragon hunt with the same guy 6 times. I also find some of the chit chat when you interact with someone a bit wordy and again repetative.
All in all I recommend this game for someone with patience to learn it, who enjoys a vast role playing game with lots of action. Not just for teens as I am close on a senior and still get hours of enjoyment from it.
before i start criticizing anything id like to get the problem out there and see if there is a fix.... i installed the game and it had a 'steam' association exe on the disc... with that in mind it went ahead and installed steam for whatever reason considering that the game itself will/should run without the aid of a steam account or association... that said i went with the flow and started playing without a hitch at 'ultra' setting.. ( radeon 7770 gig card and 4 gigs of good ram in the system )..until the 28th hour when it crashed.. right to the desktop. ok... this happens.. i restarted the game and a few more minutes into it another crash...i uninstalled and r/r the game 5 times afterwards. and updated everything including the milk in the fridge...@!@
it continued to crash... then....when it was the darkest time it ran for 90 some hours AFTER i turned down the card to medium... first question why should i have to take a %50 cut in the card just to play the same game i was playing at ultra a few hours ago?... ok... so i played another 90 odd hours with it at 1/2 gas... guess what... steam updates when i go to play again and it started crashing in 20 minutes then 10 then 5 and then it would load the splash screen then nada. there are some discrepancies as to what the game came with and that was nothing.. no folder no instructions and why the steam associated exe?...just the disc and that's it... there's nothing wrong/defective with my system nor my card... im placing the blame on either the disc or windows xp... this was a suggestion my son gave.. he has a steam skyrim which he bought on line.. my other son has a disc he bought from future shop... neither has ANY problem with their game.. and one son has 1/2 the card i do and runs it in ultra with out a problem...odd isn't it?...and my system was built by him.. and it flies!@!. i believe that there is something defective with the disc and im not pleased that there was nothing at all except the disc in the package... not withstanding that the game would or wouldn't have run any better OR worse with or without the proper paper work however....ill have to buy another disc from somewhere and if it runs without problems then we have an issue here.. and the disc will be returned...i noticed that all the Stalker games came the same way.. with out papers or instructions... AND pre-patched!!... go figure.. i wonder how that happened...no coincidence im sure... any input would be appreciated... flakjakit@hotmail.com
Great game, poor method of forcing customers to tie up their connection while downloading the entire game when it should be on thje disc.
Bottom line is it's epic, beautiful and fun. This copy will activate on Steam, with no GFWL bulls***. You'll also get access to the steam workshop which has enough mods to make this game fully customizable and endlessly playable.
