Product Description

Readers say: "I loved every minute."

Pick up this Urban Fantasy book and step into the world of the Flawed.

Supernatural empathy isn't a gift, it's a curse. Anywhere she goes, Jade's emotions are replaced by those of the people around her.

Jade grew up in a suburb of Colorado Springs, protected from other people by her parents. Now she faces college--and the world--with nothing to shield her from unwanted feelings.

When Cam, a classmate with a major crush on her, unintentionally hijacks her emotions, Jade struggles to keep from being carried away in feelings of attraction. When Ethan, a psychopath with a thirst for fear, fixates on her, the emotional impact could be lethal.

Caught in a deadly trap, Jade must untangle the emotions and find a way to use her empathic curse to overcome this killer or be overcome by him.

About the Author

An avid lover of stories that tiptoe the line between fantasy and reality (even when they plunge off one side or the other), Becca J. Campbell looks for new angles on bridging the gap between the two. She holds a special place in her heart for any story that involves superpowers or time travel. Her passion is defying the limits of her own creativity. Becca's journey into writing began as many of her other creative endeavors do - by daring herself to try something new. The question "what if I wrote a novel?" and some hastily scribbled notes on a church handout were the inspirations that jump-started her first book. Since then, she has written half a dozen additional novels and several shorter works.

Disclaimer: I was a beta/ARC reader for this book and have been asked to provide an honest review by the author.

The cast of characters is amazing. Pure and simple. Every character has a clear personality and I could see myself really getting to know them.

The story is exciting and perfectly paced. I love the POV switches. It really keeps the story going, and it's nice to see what is going on with the other characters.

The antagonist is mysterious, creepy and one of those horror movie types that you love to hate.

The writing flows nicely. I love everything I've read from Becca J. Campbell, and this is no different. She always delivers and I can't wait to read more of this new series!

There's an immediate sympathy for Jade. Getting bombarded by the people around you as an empath is difficult; having your emotions *replaced* by the emotions of others would be devastating. I was glad to see her growth as the book progressed.

Cam seems adorable at first but you start to feel the same sort of exasperation for him that you feel for a manipulative but cute 5 year old. His talent does come in handy though and he proves himself to be the kind of guy you want to have around.

Ethan is outright creepy. It did take me a little while to understand the thing with his eyes but I found it fascinating. Can't imagine trying to live with it though.

Logan is breathtaking. Finding out what he really is is something I'm looking forward to.

The book is well written. It has a good pace, captures your interest in the first chapter. I don't recall a single stilted moment. The only real issue I had with it is the jumping around between characters; it was a trifle confusing in a couple of places.

Overall, the book has the same kind of feel as some of Chloe Neill's books, though Ms. Campbell certainly has her own voice. I enjoyed it so much I've finished it in less than 24 hours. And I am looking forward to the second Flawed book, Outsider.

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own, I promise!!!*

Empath by Becca J. Campbell was quite a surprise to me. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. Although I think the plot and the characters could have been developed a bit better I think It was really good. The main character Jade has an ability to feel the emotions of the people around her, and she can't seperate her feelings from other peoples feelings, so you could see how this would be hard for her. She's been isolated practically her whole life except for a few friends, so when she goes to college it's a huge change for her.

I liked Jade for the most part but she kind of bothered me when it came to Cam and leading him on. Cam is definitely my favourite character from the book because he was really cute and caring. I also liked his siblings Chloe and Josh and I liked how they included Jade and made her feel welcome. Ethan, on the other hand was just creepy but the chapters in his perspective were really interesting to read. I totally was not expecting what he had in store for Jade. I really enjoyed that element in the story.

All in all, I was pleasantly surprised by this book and I totally recommend it to paranormal lovers!
