Okay, so: I'm not an english speaker. I'm a French Canadian who wants to learn how to perfectly write in english. This book has a kind of "home made" vibe to it, and it's sometime hard to remember all the "codes" and the whys of some English syntax rules. (And the way the book is separated doesn't help to remember them, in my opinion)
The fact that you have access to all the answers at the end is really great, and the book is really straightfoward, which is also great when you are a second langage learner like me.
Overall, it's a good book, very easy to use! I would give it without any hesitation if someone I know wanted to learn the english langage.
ps: My level was already pretty high, I bought it to improve myself. If you are a beginner, I won't suggest this book! :)

Dr. Heaberlin is a grammatical master. He has opened my mind to a different side of the English language. The lessons are easy to follow and coherent. This book corrected my unknown writing errors. HASH(0xb3836600) out of 5 stars Heaberlin Writes Right March 11 2009
By E. Jines - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Heaberlin's book is the best grammar tool I've used. His examples and exercises are comprehensive and help every student learn from the basics up. It is also one of the best values out there; I was able to complete an entire grammar course using just the workbook. I highly recommend this for beginners, or anyone who would like a refresher course.

HASH(0xb383d024) out of 5 stars Syntax made easy! April 28 2011
By Chronister - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I thought I had a grasp on sentence structure after the years of school that I have been through. Now, thanks to Dr. Heaberlin's book, I know that I have a firm grasp. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is seeking a better understanding of syntax.
HASH(0xb383d1d4) out of 5 stars An excellent way to learn grammar from the ground up. April 28 2011
By George - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Dr. Heaberlin's book is the most clear-cut method of teaching English syntax out there. I thought I knew a lot about grammar before I opened this book, now I know EVERYTHING! Nominal appositives, prepositions, verb-modifying clause indicators, infinitive phrases, this book is loaded with all the chewy, nougaty sentence marking strategies you could ask for. This ho even has an answer key in the back!

If you want to learn how to write well, buy Heaberlin's book. With it's rigorous step-by-step structure, you can pretty much teach each lesson to yourself, without the help of any kind of tutor.

Oh, and by the way, I am definitely NOT one of Dr. Dickie's students...
