However, I do not need a book to teach me how every day items like butter, vanilla and bacon smell. I can go to the kitchen for that. I was expecting to get whiffs of wines exhibiting those kinds of characteristics. Not at all. On top of that the scratch and sniff tabs in the book did not work - they all just smelled like paper.
The wine guide chart also provided - charaterizing varietals by aromatic characteristics - is not at all consistent with our experience.
