Product Description

Fourteen years after third impact, Shinji Ikari awakens to a world he does not remember. He hasn't aged. Much of Earth is laid in ruins, Nerv has been dismantled, and people who he once protected have turned against him. Befriending the enigmatic Kaworu Nagisa, Shinji continues the fight against the angels and realizes the fighting is far from over, even when it could be against his former allies. The characters' struggles continue amid the battles against the angels and each other, spiraling down to what could inevitably be the end of the world.

First of all, if you are expecting to see any of the scenes shown in the preview after the credits of 2.22, you will be disappointed.

The movie that was teased never happened (except for the eyepatch)

SPOILERS Below *WARNING*
The movie we got feels like it's missing something. And it is; 15 years. There is little explanation of what is happening. That's part of the charm of Evangelion. Piecing things together from little hints. But there are still a lot of unanswered questions, which it's doubtful the fourth movie fill will give. Kaowru is both the first and the thirteenth angel, which is explained in a bombastic scene that is a little hard to follow. And he frets over some story-specific spears for a reason that is never explained.

To be honest the time jump makes it feel like a different series. It takes some getting used to, and any plotlines that weren't already picked up from the anime are non-existent in the rebuilt.

Also, without including Asuka's backstory like they didn't in the TV series, it's hard to understand what her connection is to the Evas. And if the connection is no longer the same, then why bother with kids at all?

I loved evangelion 1.11 and 2.22 but compared to the them this movie was kind of boring and felt short. It took like 5 years for the movie to come out and I feEl disappointed. It's going to be a very long time for the 4th movie to come out

Movie is great, but apparently Khara was very disappointed with the dub Funi released (I thought it was fine) so for now they are in negotiations with Khara and the entire film. [update]

According to Funi's Twitter, the movie now has a release window of late this year/2016

RELEASE UPDATE!

I wanted to post this here since many may also be wondering what has been going on with this release... those in the know would be aware that this has been the same thing they've been saying since around August '14, but this is the very latest official thing they've said on their website on Dec 23 '14:

http://www.funimation.com/blog/2014/12/23/watch-1-11-and-2-22-on-12-27/

"And if you haven’t heard our latest news on 3.33…

We are working directly with the Japanese studio and the original creator on the upcoming Evangelion 3.33 home video release. This is a unique opportunity that presented itself to us, and since the plot for Evangelion 3.33 is so different from previous story lines, we are thrilled that the creator has asked to be so heavily involved in this project. Studio Khara has even decided that they would like to create their own special subtitle tracks for the release! We thank you for your continued patience as we work to confirm a release date. Please keep an eye on our social channels and our website for more updates!"

So there you have it... not a whole lot, but that's the very latest we got. I can't believe I've been waiting over, what, 3 years for this?

Apparently the Blu-Ray and DVD release are ready, but FUNimation want to keep touring the movie in theaters for a while. So they now give us a preliminary release date of "August 25th 2014", and I'm not sure if that's for UK only or North America also.
I love the series and these reboot movies, though the wait for them is cruel.

Update: Well seeing that August has now passed us by, I guess the wait goes on... :(

Came as expected & as for the movie, it's okay not much plot or character development. Wish there was more explanation of what happened after third impact to all the characters. Not good as the previous two movies.

The edition is beautiful too bad the movie is short and conveluded as heck. (May be bitter about having to wait for god knows when for 3+1 to finally get released)
