If there was to be a con for it, it would be that you can't control the audio from the adapter itself (skip, rewind, play, pause, etc) on it.
I ordered a replacement, and it was not quite as strong as the first, but still really good for road trips, even in urban areas -- where you might have to change stations once or twice. It outlasted the old car stereo, and then went to goodwill as obsolete technology (about 18 months).
Given the inexpensive price, it's worth giving it a try!
Strong signal, very little static!
Pros: Decent build. Easy to use. Transmits about as well as can be expected for a $20 device. That is to say, there is random static with blips and bleeps from time to time.
Cons: When I connect this product to my iPhone 5 via USB, the volume randomly gets louder and quieter - obnoxious. Even worse, after about 15 minutes of this, the thing just shuts down for 5-10 seconds, then switches back on, only to do so again every few minutes. It seems like it's overheating or something. Bummer.
Bottom line: I want an FM transmitter that charges my iPhone 5 via USB while I drive. This item is good for transmitting, but totally fails at charging.
EDIT: I bought a similar item that works the way it should: it charges the phone (without crapping out every 5 minutes and randomly messing with the volume) and transmits a clean signal (even cleaner than this one): DandyCase FM Transmitter Car Charger for Apple iPhone 5, Galaxy S4, HTC One, iPod Touch 5
