As some previous reviewers have mentioned, the clamping strength of the buckle is serious hard and is VERY hard to undo. But they are correct. After some time it does ease up. I use this belt everyday. The first time I tried to undo the buckle I pinched my finger pretty bad. Just be careful for the first week or so. The belt material was very stiff at first but is now relaxing.
One other thing I should mention. because this belt does not have holes, it has infinite size capabilities. So if you happen to be a bit bloated one day... the belt just fits perfect.
Over all, I am quite happy with this purchase
EDIT: I just wanted to follow up on this belt with respects to how hard the buckle clamping force is. So what I discovered by accident, and I don't know why I wouldn't have thought of this on my own... to open then buckle, just hold the loose end of the belt in your hand and pull away from your body. No need to pinch your fingers in the buckle anymore!
The nylon weave of the belt is very tight, the edges are finished nicely, and the buckle seems really fricking strong and secure. I actually needed a screwdriver to pry open the back of the buckle so I could remove the belt to shorten it. The buckle never seems to slip, and the belt itself doesn't seem to stretch very much at all (if ever). It just stays put.
Note that fastening the buckle does require two hands and a decent amount of strength in at least one hand -- your right hand if you wear the belt as intended, with the belt exiting the left side of the buckle. If you have any conditions or injuries that significantly reduce strength in that hand, you'll have trouble fastening this belt (unless you get fairly creative). The upshot of this is that, when fastened, there's no way this thing is coming undone accidentally. Unfastening it on purpose is still pretty easy as long as you have a few inches of belt to tug on (i.e., don't over-trim it).
Overall fantastic quality and functionality. I'm very happy with it.
This belt is super comfortable to wear. I’m a 34” waist, and this thing does the job perfectly for a daily wear. It’s heavy webbing, thick enough that it doesn’t kink or roll over on itself. The buckle it nice and tough. It’s a bit tight to fasten, but it holds really well. I’ve been working, hiking, ice climbing and rappelling with it and my pants stay in place all day. Love it.
For those complaining that it’s togh to unbuckle, just grab the tail end and pull straight out and buckle pops right open. Easy breezy.
UPDATE: I figured out how to remove the belt after it is fastened. All I have to do is pull on the extra belt material past the buckle outwards away from me and then the buckle will unfasten. I added 1 star due to the belt buckle held in place.
Update # 2: The plastic version is a lot less tight compared to the metal version. If you want easy locking and unlocking then go with the plastic. If you want more secure fit then go with metal.
It's a very tactical, practical and fashionable belt, all in one! I can't think of a better belt than this, I may as well wear this type of belt forever unless shown otherwise! I hope this belt will last me for years to come, as I sure plan to wear this everyday.
The Nylon is very tough and durable, and the buckle feels very secure. Price is also very reasonable, and much cheaper than many of the "brand" name options such as Calvin Klein.
Additionally, I didn't expect it to come in such a nice box! It would make an incredible gift!
A few tips:
If you cut the end to shorten it (the buckle end, not the tapered end), be sure to melt the edge slightly with a lighter or heat gun to prevent unraveling.
Releasing the belt is much easier if you simply pull the tail end away from your body.
