The first book was great. I enjoyed its pace and brevity. Just the right amount of adult content and the storyline was believable and kept me from doing the dishes! I can not wait for May/June! Will keep recommending it!

I received a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review. Emma is in Egypt for the summer and she wants to travel the Nile as people did in the old days. Her roommate is leaving early and she thinks she can travel by herself. After she puts her friend in a cab to the airport, her day goes downhill. She meets Alec in a coffee shop and he pays for her tea after she realizes her wallet, credit cards and passport are missing. He offers to help her but it will be up to a week before she can get another passport. He offers her a place to stay and she takes it for one night but the goes to a hostel and things get worse for her there. Alec is there again to rescue her. They spend the week together and she is falling for him. But she can't stay with him, she has to get back to Boston and school and her new job. Things are going good for a few weeks when Alec shows up at her apartment. And she is in heaven just knowing he is there or close by in New York. She goes to stay with him in New York and sees the local paper and she can't believe her eyes. All she can do is run. Will she let Alec explain what is going on? Can Alec win her back? Will Sydney be trouble for either of them? This is a fast passed, very hot story, so sit back and enjoy it. This is a first for my by Julia Danes and I loved it. Can't wait for more.

HASH(0x988972c4) out of 5 stars Hot, Hot, Hot! March 20 2014

Faltering is the first book to an exciting, hot new erotic romance series, and Julia Danes is my new favorite author. I really enjoyed the elements of this book, including the very real and raw characters and various settings that take place first in Egypt, then Boston and New York. Danes does a great job of creating drama and suspense---I really felt Emma's pain when she discovers Alec's betrayal. After all, she's already got trust issues considering what she went through with her ex, Dean.

The book is so well-written that I became completely involved in the characters and the overall story line---Alec is simply hot and scrumptious. He's also Emma's hero since he rescues her several times in Egypt when Emma finds herself in dire circumstances.

The erotica is very provocative and tasteful; the chemistry between Alec and Emma is very real and unyielding. Faltering is similar in the writing style of E.L. James' "50 Shades of Grey," but the story and characters are original. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
HASH(0x988969b4) out of 5 stars A different take in a genre quickly becoming the same May 19 2014

I will be honest, I started this because someone recommended it to me. However, once I started I couldn't put it down. Yes, it had similiarities to all the other books in the genre. The handsome stranger who comes to her rescue. He has a past, but yet in this one so does she. This is the first book of the series and I hope that in the next book we will be able to delve into their pasts to find out what makes them the way that they are. They are two hurt souls that find solace in one another. The writing was breath taking and certainly brought me into the story. I love when I read a book that makes me feel that the characters are friends that I know and not merely just words in a book. Julia did just that making Emma and Alec jump off the page and I could watch their story unfold in front of me. It is definatlely a quick read and one I will be recommending to others.
