2008 debut album from the New York singer. On The Fame, it's as if Gaga took two parts Dance-Pop, one part Electro-Pop, and one part Rock with a splash of Disco and burlesque and generously poured it into the figurative martini glasses of the world in an effort to get everyone drunk with her Fame. 'The Fame is about how anyone can feel famous,' she explains. 'Pop culture is art. It doesn't make you cool to hate pop culture, so I embraced it and you hear it all over The Fame. But, it's a sharable fame. I want to invite you all to the party. I want people to feel a part of this lifestyle.'

When Lady Gaga first burst onto the scene in 2008 with 'Just Dance', my initial response to her was not the greatest.
Infact, I could not stand her.
However, as I heard more singles from 'The Fame' - 'Poker Face', 'LoveGame', 'Paparazzi' - I started to think, 'hmmmm...perhaps I misjudged Lady Gaga'. Then earlier this year when she released 'Bad Romance' I jumped onto the Lady Gaga bandwagon and decided one day that it was time to finally purchase Lady Gaga's albums, and I did...I started from the beginning and bought 'The Fame'.
While Lady Gaga's debut is a decent pop record - the singles are obvious, does that mean the non singles are terrible? Not really but some are not as strong as the singles.
The album kicks off with the hit 'Just Dance' and to this day, even though 'Just Dance' has grown on me as a good dance song, I still do not feel it is one of her strongest singles - along side her recent hit 'Telephone' with Beyonce.
'Just Dance' is followed by some of Lady Gaga's other major (and excellent) hits - 'LoveGame', 'Paparazzi', 'Beautiful, Dirty, Rich' was used as a promotional single and overseas in Australia, New Zealand, and other selected European countries, 'Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)' was a single and 'Poker Face'.
The thing with Lady Gaga is some of her lyrics are so cheeky - like in 'Poker Face' when she says 'Bluffin' with my muffin' or in LoveGame when she says 'I want to take a ride on the disco stick'. Haha, I love it!
I think 'Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) is a cute little song too. It's so 90's...and I love the whole 'cherry cherry boom boom'.
The title track of the album - 'The Fame' is probably the worst track on the album.Read more ›
I absolutly love this album! I thought the songs where very enjoyable to listen to despite thier sometimes innapropriate lyrics. Another concept I was impressed with was all the songs where unique in thier own way; and nothing was for filler (unlike a majority of music nowadays)So overall this album is highly recommended! I know many people would disagree; but I think the songs that aren't as popular as the ones Lady Gaga is reconized for are much better than those we are all familiar with. So before you consider purchesing an album only for the hits, think about the other songs on the CD. That is a significant component of Lady Gaga's The Fame. Love it!
Lady Gaga's debut is stunning fun and also shamelessly excessive; Gaga claims that she's "addicted to a life of material" in the title track; liquor bottles, Cadillacs, models, porn, riches... you name it; all of life's finest things are on display in the song, and it couldn't be more delicious to listen to. The whole album is this way; whether singing about men, partying, dancing, money, or self-display, it is mainstream at its most narcissistic. It almost ventures into the ironic and self-parodic which is what makes the record so ingenious.
So often, dance divas emerge and become big superstars but have little or no talent at all, and love or hate her, you have to always remember that's NOT the case here; Lady Gaga has a TON of talent; she can write a fantastic song and sing it like there's no tomorrow. And if there actually was no tomorrow, I would spend my last night dancing to this record.
