Product Description

Family Guy Volume 2 sees the return of America's most outrageous animated family with all 21 Season Three episodes, plus one never-before-seen episode - "When You Wish Upon A Weinstein" banned from TV, and only available in this collection!

In this hilarious final volume, the Griffin family faces all-new dilemmas, including Brian's unintentional foray into directing porn, Stewie's rants on national TV, Meg's date with a nudist and Lois' Yuletide insanity.

Meanwhile, Peter is surprised to discover Lois was once a groupie, and his son, Chris, is more "endowed" than he is.

The third and final season of Seth MacFarlane's late, lamented Family Guy finds television's most dysfunctional cartoon family even more animated than usual. As MacFarlane notes in a bonus segment about the controversial series' censorship battles, he was inspired to go for broke, thinking that the series, already juggled like a hot potato in the schedule (at one point, it aired opposite the mighty Friends), had been cancelled. Just as Spinal Tap walked the fine line between "clever and stupid," so did Family Guy gleefully mock the line between "edgy and offensive." Case in point is this set's holy grail: "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein," not aired during the series' original run, in which clueless Rhode Island patriarch Peter Griffin is convinced that if his lumpen son is to be rich and successful, he must become Jewish.

Like The Simpsons, Family Guy lends itself to multiple viewings to catch each densely packed episode's way-inside "one-percenter" gags (so-called by the creators because that is the percent of the audience who will get them), scattershot pop-culture references, surreal leaps, and gratuitous pot shots at everyone from, predictably, Oprah, Kevin Costner, and Bill Cosby to, unpredictably, Rita Rudner. Also like their Springfield counterparts, this series benefits from a great ensemble voice cast, with surprising contributions from a no-less-stellar roster of guest stars. Yes, that's actually Kelly Ripa as her "real" self, a heart-devouring alien in "Family Guy Viewer Mail #1," and June Foray popping in as Rocky the Flying Squirrel in "Brian Does Hollywood." Family Guy's stock has recently risen with its addition to Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim" lineup, a much better fit than prime time. To see Peter invite Charles Manson to a party for Sharon Tate ("but only if you don't embarrass me") is to marvel how much of this ever got on the air. Happily, it is on DVD. --Donald Liebenson

Quite possibly the most underrated comedy ever devised, The Family Guy enjoyed three all-too-brief seasons before getting the axe. Fortunately, the ratings in syndication were so high that the show will be back, starting in 2005.
Which means that it is time to get this DVD and get caught up.
Featuring 22 episodes from the third season, this DVD showcases the further adventures of the borderline-insane Griffin family and their dysfunctional neighbors, all of whom contribute something unique to the comedic mosaic. The standouts are Stewie, the megalomaniacal toddler, Brian, the sarcastic, martini-sipping family dog, and Quagmire, the womanizing swinger who is funny when he scores, and even funnier when he doesn't.
Comparisons will be made, justly, to the Simpsons. While there are some similarities, Family Guy is far more extreme and over-the-top, and will appeal to anyone look for a seriously politically incorrect comedy.
Highest possible recommendation.

In a day when The Simpsons has lost its edge, its truely depressing to see one of the smartest, funniest shows finish with only 3 seasons. Family Guy is the greatest cartoon ever created, hands down. I am also a fan of shows such as futurama and the simpsons, but Family Guy is the greatest hands down. Buy this DVD as well as the first 2 seasons in volume 1, you will not regret it. YOU WILL LAUGH YOUR ASS OFF.

The Fox network recanted their decision of cancelling Seth MacFarlane's subversive animated gem, and at the 11th hour ordered another season, and just in time for Seth to cajole most of the writers for a return.
Following the 11 month hiatus, Seth brings the Griffin family back for what is often cited as the funniest of the seasons. The third season features "The Thin White Line", featuring Brian's personal struggle with a cocaine addiction, while taking many pop culture shots at breakfast cerial magnate Toucan Sam and late night mainstay David Letterman. "Brian wallows and Peter's Swallows" contains the Emmy winning song, written and performed by none other then Seth MacFarlane, recounting life in America over the years the agoraphobic elderly woman has missed. The follow-up to "The Thin white Line" finds Brain as a struggling screenwriter in Hollywood, with special guest appearences by porn legends Jenna Jameson and Ron Jeremy.
Fans of Family Guy must not despair, as the what was thought of as the last season of Seth's short lived endeavor will return for a fourth season, and Seth has once again cajoled most of the writers to return, and once again reassembling the veteran Hollywood voice talents to return.

Family Guy is the greatest show that it has ever been my pleasure to watch. Everybody I know either has not gotten the chance to see it(because it doesnt air over here), or downloads a million shows off Kazaa. Everyone has to love it, but the humor in this cartoon isn't what you might call intelligent, but quite possibly witty. Too many shows make the mistake of racism, but you see, Family Guy makes fun of EVERYONE-literally, as some other reviewer has said. They make fun of so many religions, races, companys, beleifs, singers, actors, shows, celebrities, and s o m u c h m o r e, so in the end, everybody is laughing together(hysterically). I love this show, as does anyone else i know that watches it, and by all means buy this DVD. You will never ever regret it.

Family Guy is quite possibly the funniest show ever created, moreover it is definatly the funniest cartoon. Its rapid fire comidic style won't let you catch your breath. The humor ranges from the low-level slapstick all the way up to rather sophisticated humor that is very cleverly done. Though Family Guy may be seen as a South-Park-like politicly incorrect cartoon, I'm here to say it is far from it. Most of the jokes never cross the line, as the Fox censors never let them, but this adds more humor. Carefully manuvering around the zone of going too far, Family Guy pushed the boundaries but did it tastfully.
This Vol. 2 collection of season 3 is the high point in Family Guy's short life. While seasons 1 and 2 were funny, season 3 hit on all cylinders. The humor is jam packed in these episodes and if you watch them multiple times you will begin to notice subtle jokes and inuendos never before seen. This is definatly a must-buy if you like to laugh and are not looking to be offended.
