Well it's been less than an hour since the UPS guy left my doorway, and I figured I'd come and speak up about my new purchase.

Lets just say I've been wanting to own this series for a long time now. It was this time last month I finally decided I'd break down and cash out $350-500 and add this gem of a series to my collection. During my price comparison search I happened along the Amazon pre-order for the re-release, and thank my lucky stars I did. Now for only a fraction of the original price, I own one of the most original sci-fi tv shows to ever grace my television. I got it bundled with Peacekeeper Wars to not only give me a reduction on the total price, but to complete the entire experience.

On to the product.

It's a hologram boxset, something you can't tell by just looking at the picture above. Inside the box are 5 dvd cases, all of which also contain hologram covers of their own (each featuring a certain cast member). Cases 1-4 are for their respective seasons, each containing 6 disks a piece. Case 5 contains numerous special features on 2 disks. There is reportedly over 15hrs of special features included in this set, scattered across all the disks. And I honestly can't wait to watch every minute of them.

I'm not going to go into detail about the series itself....that kind of info can be found all over the net. But for anyone that is a fan of the show, but like me, had a hard time justifying it's original price tag. Those days are gone my friends!

This is a must buy for anyone looking to truly complete their sci-fi collection.

Adding in a correction. I know I mentioned "hologram" to describe the box and dvd cases. It's not "hologram" in terms of shifting images. I just couldn't remember the term used to describe the effect. Same sort of effect you would see on collectable marvel or baseball cards. That glossy, tin foil effect. Sorry for any confusion.

"My name is John Crichton, an astronaut... a radiation wave hit and I got shot through a wormhole... now I'm lost in some distant part of the universe on a ship -- a LIVING ship, full of strange alien life forms..."

From the very first episode onward, it's pretty obvious that "Farscape: The Complete Series" is no ordinary sci-fi series -- the characters are outlaws, the ship is alive, and distant galaxies are full of Muppets. Fortunately, it's not just unusual but brilliant -- full of irreverent humor, strange alien species, heart-pounding action and eerie sci-fi.

Astronaut John Crichton is planning to slingshot his experimental craft, Farscape One, as a one-small-step into interstellar exploration. Instead, he gets thrown through a wormhole, and ends up drifting in a firefight between a vast living prison ship called Moya and the hypermilitaristic Peacekeepers. Obviously, he wants to go home, but isn't sure how.

So he begins a journey with a gang of escaped criminals -- the priestess Zhaan, the bombastic warrior D'Argo, deposed dominar Rygel, and the prickly, surly ex-Peacekeeper Aeryn Sun. They gain a few new members of their crew (including Moya's weaponized baby and the seductive, rebellious Chiana), but also lose some valued friends and allies along the way.

As the series unfolds, the Moya crew encounter countless alien planets, where they deal with bizarre problems, individuals (mad scientists, vengeful Peacekeepers, and Ancients), and alien life-forms (shapeshifting space bugs!). And they must constantly dodge the Peacekeeper Forces, and later the cruel Scarrans -- including the Sebacean/Scarran Scorpius.

For those of you that have NEVER heard of Farscape (what a shame...) or have never purchased a Farscape boxed set or DVD - this is for you! I don't have this version of the series YET (it's not released...), BUT I have the whole series in other boxed sets. IF this boxed set is "worse" than the "worse" set they put out so far - It will be FANTASTIC!! (The other boxed sets have FANTASTIC shows and lots of extras).

This series is best watched from start to finish! Don't jump into the middle - start at the beginning. If you come into it in the middle, it can be hard to follow (so this complete set is defintely the way to go). The characters will really grow on you and after a half dozen episodes or so, you'll be completely hooked!! It took me 3 episodes to get hooked - the 1st one was confusing because I didn't understand the whole idea behind the show (a 3rd season show); the second was "the clarifier show", the 3rd was "where can I see more of this"...& I went out looking for the series on DVD!! (I didn't have cable the 1st couple of years it was out...I had no idea it was out there - I was so glad I found it!!)

This boxed set if definitely the way to buy this (especially if you have a Farscape fan - a PROUD Scaper, like me - friend who's been nagging you to watch the show). The cost is VERY low!! (I paid ~$450 for the 4 seasons & ~$30 for the mini series).

This is the best sci-fi series ever made!!!! It's made by the Jim Henson Company, and I think it's the best work they've EVER produced!! If you don't LOVE Farscape, you haven't watched enough shows!!!! I'm EXTREMELY SERIOUS when I say this - you really won't get why I say this until you watch it for a while...
