It is so great to finally be able to identify our local long-horned beetles to species. This book has been out for a while, but I only heard about it recently and immediately ordered a copy. It is quite easy to use with photos of every species. The illustrations are clear enough to be very useful. So far, I have been able to identify every long-horned beetle I have found since I got this guide. It is easily small enough to carry as a field guide, but, since it is hard bound, I haven't got the heart to carry it in the field. Fortunately, digital cameras make it unnecessary to risk damaging it by exposure to field conditions. Cerambycids are a very important component of our insect fauna and this guide is a very worth-while addition to the library of any naturalist who is lucky enough to live in its coverage area.

Last time I checked, this could still be ordered directly from the publisher (the Illinois Natural History Survey) for only $15. It is being sold by them at cost - neither the author (myself) nor publisher get any money from the sales.
