Product Description

It all started with a doll…

All I wanted was to be a kid,
to have fun with my friends and make mistakes.
But little did I know that my father had other plans.
A daily life lesson constantly spat in my face.

Every day, for years, I’ve been told that I’m wrong.
That I’m a mistake.
That I’m a sinner.
That no matter what, I’m an abomination.
A reminder that’s been drilled into my head;
beaten into my body and soul;
like a punch to the gut;
shoved in my face,
that what I am is a betrayal to my family.
Simply for being me. Simply for being gay.

Now, all I want is to be free from this nightmare that I’m trapped in.
To find the one that got away.
The one with the hazel eyes…
All I want is to find him
so he can save me from myself.

We first heard Grayson's heartbreaking account of the torment he went through in high school.Now, we have Finn's side of the story, where he was physically and emotionally abused daily by his ex-cop dad for being gay. Finn turned his fear and anger about the abuse against Grayson, a defenseless boy and one that he had a crush on. Finn had a tangled ball of feelings for Grayson and that made the story more complex and richer. The author did an excellent job of giving both characters three-dimensions.

Some would think that there is no excuse for bullying but it's more complex than that. I was emotionally abused by my mother at home and also bullied at school. I ended up with Complex PTSD from the damage I endured as a child, teen, and adult. After having intensive trauma therapy for three and a half years, I understand where Finn was coming from. Morgan Campbell"s books struck a chord with me.

I loved the ending of this book! I was thrilled to find out that there is another book on its way where we will hear about Logan, Grayson's first boyfriend!

Omg I really love this book the troubles Finn had to try and hide himself from his family and friends. It was sad when even his could not understand what he was putting him through. It goes to show that troubles we go through to hide from people just so will not be picked on ousted by our peers . Then to think you have to bully the ones you like because of it.

After reading Grayson's story I couldn't not read Finn's. All together their journey is quite incredible and I love how the author approached the topic of bullying. This time around we get to hear the side of the bully, what makes a bully and in this case his redemption. I would have liked to see more of Finn's family, his siblings and his wife and son. It's not until the very end that Jameson makes an appearance. While I really loved this book my overarching feeling is that the author could have put together Grayson and Finn's stories into one amazing novel. The writing is quite good and I found myself sometimes almost tearing up and feeling for the characters. Only a good writer can do that to a reader.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful story of redemption! March 9 2017

Finn (Bully Book 2) by Morgan Campbell

***5 stars***

Grayson and Finn have a complicated relationship, to say the least, and getting to know Grayson and his struggles with the bullying that occurred in high school, I literally had twitchy hands. Wanting to throat punch Finn and his cohorts, I saw no redemption in sight, but little did I know, there’s always a story in the making.

Finn just wanted to be free to choose his own life, yet his father was set in his ways, and decided no son of his would be something he despised. The constant struggle to be accepted by what he thought were friends and loved ones, took it’s toll on him daily, and ultimately turned him into something he truly hated…his father.

Years later, he’s hiding his true self with lies and deceit, and being caught in a promiscuous situation was what finally set him free. Beginning his new life, he achieves his dream job, only to find out his past isn’t far behind. Low and behold, his new boss just happens to be the one and only Grayson.

It’s a definite tug of love, and they both have grown into completely different men, with completely different takes on the past and present. Together they take the journey of forgiveness and finding ones true self. I love these guys to the core, and if any two people deserve happiness and peace, it’s them. This series has my heart, and I can’t wait to see what Morgan brings us next!

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars! Look beyond the smile – there is pain behind those eyes. April 17 2017
By LJ Nelson - Published on

“His story, my story, they are just pieces of the past that we can’t change, just learn from. I can only hope that from here on out, we can start making it our story.”

As you are all (acutely) aware, I tend to get a tad emotionally invested with the characters from some of the books I read *snorts* Okay, okay, I’ll revise that. Overly emotionally involved, lol. So, as you can guess, I was no different with Finn. Especially, as the author left me with goosebumps from her words.

As all readers of this series will know, Finn’s was not the easiest of stories to read, never mind review. So, with that in mind, I hope you’ll understand my unconventional take.

I know you’ll understand where I’m coming from when I tell you I wanted to cause you bodily harm whilst I was reading Grayson. I couldn’t fathom how you could willingly cause harm to one of the sweetest souls to ever grace the pages of my kindle, but hurt you did.

You’ll also understand that some readers are, and will be, unable to comprehend how Grayson was ever able to forgive you, let alone welcome you into his heart.

There is no excuse for what you did, but then again, you know that. After reading your story, it gives me a greater understanding of what makes you tick, but two wrongs don’t make a right. I knew your story was going to be tough to read, and I was not wrong. I cried for you and I felt your pain as my own. It’s you that must live with your actions and decisions made, which must be a heavy burden to bear at times. But, I’m here to tell you I will not stand in judgement over you.

Treasure this second chance you’ve been given with Grayson. Don’t take his love for granted. Yes, I hear you, I know you won’t. Just remember that yours is a love that comes along but once in a lifetime. Look forward, not back. Most of all, I want you to do one thing for me, forgive yourself. Redemption comes from within.

Your friend (whether you want it or not!)

Gawd, I’m a blubbering wreck (as well as overdramatic, lol). I’m off to eat my body weight in chocolate *sniffs* Wish me luck!

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful story April 23 2017

This is the second book in the Bully series and can’t be read as a standalone. You have to read Grayson first, as that book is where it all began.

This is Finn’s story. And boy what a story it is. When you start reading you can’t put the book down. Starting at the age of five the author writes in horrifying detail how Finn is beaten and belittled by his father. Not just once, but time and time again. It is a miracle that he survived all this abuse. Bring in the hormones of a teenage boy and the pressure and expectations of his peers and it is no wonder that he did what he did. Fear and vulnerability will make you bad choices, but it is oh so understandable. The story follows Finn’s life and shows that the human mind is resilient and that with determination you can come out stronger.
The author does a marvelous job describing his struggles to come to terms with his sexuality and his past. It was heartbreaking and I had tears in my eyes.

The second part and epilogues pick up where Grayson ended and only make sense if you read that book. The ending couldn’t be more perfect. Again I got teary eyed, but now with happiness and joy.
5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommend reading this book! March 22 2017

There was no way I was going to miss reading this book -- which contains Finn's story -- after reading Grayson (book 1). Finn's character was very well developed after book 1, and this book filled in all the backstory about Finn's life that contributed to who he was when he once again crossed paths with Grayson in book 1. (By the way, if it wasn't clear from the first few sentences, book 1 should definitely be read first -- Finn's story in this second book is made so much more effectual by knowing what happened in book 1.) Once I started reading Finn's story in this book, I couldn't put it down. There are tough issues -- Finn's childhood and young adult years were not easy ones. And as I experienced in book 1, I was astounded by the broad spectrum of emotions I felt while reading this book. Though this second book in the series is a novella, and therefore shorter than book 1, it is no less fulfilling. The clues in this book to both Finn's past and his future with Grayson were satisfying, in much the same way that placing the last piece of a difficult jigsaw puzzle can be gratifying.

Finn Abbott has finally figured his life out and came out to his family and friends. After a long struggle with acceptance and a failed marriage he's ready to start the rest of his life starting with a new job. Little does he know that his new boss is none other than Grayson Michaels. The one he tormented in school. The only man to capture his heart. The one man who can bring him to his knees.
There's so much bad history between these two. It's a story of forgiveness and love of the highest level. Can Grayson forgive Finn for destroying his childhood? Can Finn forgive himself?
Morgan Campbell sucked me into a story and the lives of these characters. She doesn't hold back on the torment, hurt and pain that took place. She opens the hearts of her characters for us and I felt every emotion. This is a story that I truly believe needed to be told. Acceptance isn't something everyone has and the struggles are very real and relatable. I highly recommend this series to all of my book loving friends.
