What the Critics are Saying About the OCZ ZX Series

JonnyGuru Recommended

"This power supply is a system builder's dream."

Think Computers Recommended

"OCZ has put together a very solid power supply in the ZX Series. Talking about operation the ZX Series is extremely quiet and you can barely tell that it is on, your CPU fan will be louder than this power supply"
--Think Computers

"The OCZ ZX 1250W is certainly an impressive power supply and one which excelled throughout all our testing over the last couple of days. If you need a substantial supply for multiple high power demand graphics cards then this should certainly be shortlisted"

Hardware Secrets

"The OCZ ZX Series 850 W can really deliver its labeled wattage at high temperatures. This power supply presents its main voltages closer to their nominal values than necessary. Noise and ripple levels were always extremely low on the +5 V and +3.3 V outputs."
--Hardware Secrets

"Throughout all of our tests, the ZX 850 performed quite well and exactly as advertised. Voltage readings were excellent all the way through and the ripple we saw on the 12V rail was equally impressive. Perhaps what sweetens the deal even more is the price"

Harware Heaven

As we would expect for a PSU with Gold Certification the OCZ ZX Series 850W unit is a well-built product. From the flawless paintwork on the outside to the use of branded components on the inside, there is very little to fault about the PSU. A quality PSU which excels in efficiency and low noise operation.

I couldn't believe it when I managed to snag this PSU for $28.86, which I assume was an error in pricing but Amazon honoured it! I couldn't be happier with the level of service and how lucky I got.

The PSU itself is definitely "enthusiast" oriented, as made evident by the packaging alone. The ample supply of cables came shipped in a OCZ velcro pouch. Nice little additions. Performs flawlessly.

Again, I would rate this 10 stars if I could, simply because of how Amazon handled my sale. $34 shipped? I should have bought 5 of them!

I bought this with alot of reservation knowing that on many forums these PSU are infamous for being riddled with problems. Mine however works perfectly I've owned it for a few months now and decided it was time to give it a good review that it deserves. I've been really stressing this PSU unit since I had it and its handled everything so well. Really a great experience for me.

HASH(0xa7411684) out of 5 stars Heavy duty PSU June 30 2011

-Price. I bought this item for $179, I'm not sure if it was on sale or if the price was a mistake, but I bought two and wish I had bought four!
-Fully modular
-Big beefy cables, well labeled.
-Runs cool and quiet even under constant heavy load (3x Radeon 6950 running a distributed computing project under full load 24/7)

-I should have bought more of them when I had the chance :P

Other thoughts:
If you ca get a good price on one of these, buy it. It will run whatever you want.

UPDATE: over 2.5 years using this OCZ PSU and not one single problem!!!!

$180 from Amazon for this PSU is a steal. Not to mention, a mail-in rebate to boot. Compare it at $239 at Newegg. 1250-watt, 80+ GOLD certified. WOW. It is a special order item from Amazon, so it took ruight at two weeks to receive it. Absolutely sero problems installing it. Cables could be a little longer -- I bought an extension for the 4+4 Pin CPU connector so that I could run it behind the motherboard in my Antec DF-35 mid-size case.

I had always been an Antec-only PSU guy, but getting an 80+ gold certified 1250-watt PSU from a respectable company like OCZ for $180 +mail-in rebate sold me.

5 stars! This PSU has been working flawlessly for about a month and I couldn't be happier!

HASH(0xa7411c18) out of 5 stars OCZ is the best! March 19 2012

A little over a month ago I bought the OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W Modular High Performance Power Supply. I kept having EMI (Electromagnetic interference) and or RF Noise on my Flat Screen t.v. when I turned on the computer. I emailed OCZ and their tech support said its very rare but does happen and gave me an RMA # and upgraded me to this PSU and even apologized. From the email to sending PSU to them and getting the new one was one week total. This PSU is awesome and has more then enough cables for any user.
I highly recommend this PSU and now I'm an OCZ fan forever.

so many connections available with so much power to spare. i have five 500 GB hard drives, two DVD write drives, two Blu-ray write drives, AMD AM3+ motherboard, SATA 4 port Raid card for extra SATA connections, 16 GB DDR3 Ram, AM3+ Eight core with liquid cooling. Nvidia dual video card and Netgear Wireless card. This power supply doesn't work hard to run my computer. It's quiet, i mean quiet, i don't think you will hear it unless you have your ear up to your computer. if you are into managing cables so much you could blame your OCD on it, like me, its easy with this power supply. you only use cables you need, put the rest in a box high on a shelf for safe keeping. unless your OCD makes you worry about mice getting to the cables. i highly recommend this power supply, heck, i think this is the only power supply i will put in computers, unless they need more power. going to buy this for my other three desktops.
