Some loves deserve a second chance…

Coming back to Gulliver Island after a ten-year absence to take care of his father should have been simple. Emmett Deal would fix and sell the family home, and return to Cincinnati with his ailing father in tow. Yet something compels him to stay a little longer. The beautiful, bright eyes of Jaime Brown.

Ten years ago, traumatic events changed the course of Jaime's life forever, catching her in a small-town life she can't escape. It's great to read a love story full of second chances! A story where first love was torn apart by unfortunate circumstances, only to be revived again when chance, in the form of a high school reunion, brings them back together.

I truly appreciated reading this love story of rediscovery and understanding that, although they've grown and dealt with the fears of their past, that love has a chance to conquer all!

It was a great read filled with great chemistry among all the characters.

Absolutely recommend this for a read to all!

4.0 out of 5 stars a sweet love story Dec 9 2015

Good story. High school sweethearts are separated by a lot of misunderstandings, a lack of communication, one deciding what is best for the other without ever discussing it with them, etc. So 10 years later they meet again at a small school class reunion. They all lived on an island on Lake Erie. He helps her restore the old school house and they get reacquainted and as typical for a male, he sets out to fix her and her problems. Thing is, she doesn't need fixing and misunderstands his actions.

A sweet love story, easy to read and really could be read by all ages. There is the "after the fact" sex but no details of every action they take. The heroine is a smart, strong person. She has suffered a really bad event but has slowly overcome her fears and thoughts that hold her back. She has allowed others to guide her life rather than taking charge and living her own life.

The hero is dealing with a father that is in early stages of dementia and all that that entails. He is torn by what is best for his father. The father is quite a character and has an entertaining role in all of this. He gives some good insight as to what the person with the problem is thinking.

It was a very good story and I would certainly recommend it. Of course it has a good ending.

I have to admit I haven't finished this story yet, and there's a reason for that. It's that you want to take your time. You want to get fully immersed in Gulliver's Island, in getting to know Jaime and Emmet who have wounds to tend and scars to smooth. And then there's Gibson who breaks your heart and Maureen who's just like your best friend and the diner where you'd have coffee every day if you lived on the Island and had your golf cart to get around in.

I always love Kristina Knight's work, but believe me when I say this is her best yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get ready to fall in love again! Nov. 5 2015

Get ready to fall in love again!

Jaime has not left Gulliver Island in a long time, but she loves living on it. She’s setting up for their class reunion, that was dumped into her lap and isn't happy about what still needs to be done. Her friend tells her to cancel it, but she doesn't want to. Plus, she found out the contractor she hired, left, and isn't coming back to finish the job.

Emmett comes back to the island after 10 years to clean up, sell his dads house, and move him Cincinnati to be closer to Emmett. His father has dementia.
Emmett has his own television show and owns Deal Construction.

Emmett overhears Jamie's voice in the Diner and volunteers to help with the school. This is their second chance and they still have that good old chemistry. I loved this second chance romance, it was so sweet.

****I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. *****

4.0 out of 5 stars #BEAUTIFUL&MOVING Nov. 4 2015
By Jennifer Pierson: The Power of Three Readers - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This was my first book by this author, and I enjoyed it.

Jaime has spent 10 years learning to overcoming fears that she's lived with since a traumatic event changed her life. She hasn't been able to leave the small town to make her dream of traveling come true. It's left her in limbo. Emmett Deal has come back to Gulliver Island to take care of his father, after he's been gone for 10 years. He got out of town shortly after graduation, leaving the girl that he loved behind, because of his guilt. After he's back, he runs into Jaime again, and realizes that those feelings never went away no matter how far he ran. Will he stay long enough to get a second chance with his first love?

First Love Again is a sweet romantic read. The character development is very good, with a well written storyline that flowed well. It was easy to fall in love with the characters. Jaime's strength is simply amazing, and I could feel Emmett's guilt and pain. Kristina Knight writing style pulled out quite a few emotions out of me while reading. The only problem for me was that it took me a bit to figure out what was going on, once I did, I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough. I'm very glad I read this beautiful and moving story, and look forward to reading more by this author.

Jamie hasn't left the island in a long time. She isn't happy about the stuff that still needs to be done at the school in order for it to be done by the reunion in six weeks. Maureen tells her that they should just cancel the reunion, Jamie doesn't want to. She then finds out that the contractor that she had hired left and isn't going to come back to finish it. Her father Mason thinks that the school building should just be torn down and a park put in its place. Emmett is back on the island after 10 years, when he hears Jamie's voice in the Diner he couldn't help but volunteer his services to help with the school. Emmett has no idea why he offered up his services to fix the school.
Jamie has her demons from 10 years ago, she works at the Gulliver Winery, planning the annual class reunion was dropped in her lap, she loves living on the island. Her parents are very protective of her. Emmett came back to the island after 10 years, to clean up and sell his dads house and to move him to Cincinnati to be closer to Emmett. He has his own television show. He owns Deal Construction. Maureen is married to Clancy, has two children, Jamie's best friend. She is very protective of Jamie. Clancy is Emmett's friend, married to Maureen. Gibson is Emmett's father and he has dementia. He has some episodes. He wants the house the same colors as his wife had it before she passed away. Mason is the Chief of Police, Jamie's father, blames Emmett for what happened to Jamie. He is very protective of Jamie.
This is my first book by Kristina Knight and I can honestly say that it will not be my last. This book is very well written and the characters were very well developed. I couldn't help but feel very connected to the characters.
