Product Description

If you love cruise ship mysteries, you'll love this book!

It's not wise to wander the cruise ship Forever alone at night. You might not live to see daylight.

Detective Jack Harney agrees to do an old Army buddy a favor. Curt Noble had some personal business to attend to, he didn’t say what. What he did say was he needed someone to temporarily take over his duties as head of security on the struggling cruise ship Forever. Jack hesitates, but he owes Curt his life so agrees. He’s told the worst mischief he can expect to encounter will be the occasional shoplifter, or drunk. Instead, one week into the cruise, a beautiful red head and a member of the crew are ruthlessly murdered. Are the two murders connected? It’s up to Jack to find out. He must find the killer before the ship returns to Tampa’s port, or worse, before another dead body is found.

Jack can handle a murder or two, but that's not all on his plate: Cookies, cakes, and custard are being sabotaged, an ex-girlfriend is on board for a large wedding and she wants to "talk", and a murder suspect is trying really hard to get into his tan Dockers. Can Jack remain focused and catch a killer, or will someone get away with murder, not to mention serious brownie abuse.

Forever Doomed will keep you guessing until the very end.

As a favour for his old army buddy, the hero (a detective with the Tampa Police force) finds himself replacing his friend temporarily as the Head of Security role on the cruise ship Forever. However this does not turn out to be a quiet cruise. With a wedding on board and a chef's contest to add numerous distractions and red herrings, trying to solve the murders before the ship arrives back in its home port, has many challenges. Lots of twists and unexpected surprises make this a light easy read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Author MaryAnn Kempher's FOREVER DOOMED Shows That Even Great Reads Don't Can't Last Forever Dec 5 2013
By Cyrus Webb - Published on

Great storytellers are always exciting to enjoy because they are able to give you characters that speak to you, transport you to wherever they are and leave you wanting more. That is what MaryAnn Kempher has done once again with her book FOREVER DOOMED. Though it is her second literary offering you don't have to have read the first book, even though you will revisit some of the characters (namely Scott and Katherine) she introduced you to in MOCHA, MOONLIGHT AND MURDER. Thankfully we also meet others along this journey of fun, foul play and folly--- helping you sail through the book in no time.

This book contains a cruise ship named FOREVER, but don't expect this book to last that long. Once you begin you will not want it to end, so get prepared for a literary adventure. Kudos to the author for another job well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Mystery! May 8 2014

Katherine and Scott both decide to go on a cruise, along with Amy for Scott’s brother’s wedding. Amy had recently broken up with Jack and he had moved away to start anew without her. Amy had decided to tag along on the cruise in hopes to meet someone new! But Amy is slowly coming to the conclusion that she has made a dreadful mistake about breaking up with Jack.

It doesn't take long though when meeting new people takes a back seat to all the dead bodies showing up or people start going missing! There is something very strange going on on the “Forever” and the Head of Security is way in over his head!

Without giving any more of this great little mystery away, I just have to say that I loved this book! These mysteries resemble the Janet Evanovich mysteries in that Katherine and Amy and Scott always get mixed up in things that are way over their heads! The only difference is Katherine and Amy can make up their minds who they really love!

This book is fast-paced and keeps your attention right to the last page! So many twists and turns and little stories mixed in to keep you off track of who the real murderer is! I give this mystery five stars and look forward to reading more of the escapades of Katherine, Scott, Amy and Jack!

5.0 out of 5 stars Forever Doomed May 8 2014

A wedding on a cruise ship. What could go wrong? How about everything? A Tampa detective is doing a favor for an old friend, working security on a cruise packed with wedding guests. It should have been a free vacation - but no, bodies start turning up, desserts disappearing, and, I realize this shouldn't be funny, but if the highjenks don't have you chortling, something's wrong with your sense of humor. Read it . You'll like it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Murder on the High Seas April 28 2014

This was an excellent book and the first I have read by this author. Jack Harney, a detective for a Tampa police department, fills in as head of security on a cruise ship for an old army buddy of his. A job where nothing ever happens. Except when Jack is in charge. There were several errors in the book which slowed me down just a little, but I highly recommend this book. I bought this book with my own money and was not given anything for this review.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great sequel! July 8 2014

This second mystery novel by MaryAnn Kempher is just as good as the first, if not better. "Forever Doomed" takes place entirely on a cruise ship, There's a wedding and a pastry baking contest mixed in with the usual on board cruise ship activities. However, a few activities have taken place that were never on the cruise director's list: two murders and the mystery of who is sabotaging the head chef's pastries!

We are reunited with some of the characters introduced in "Mocha, Moonlight, and Murder" and a few new characters emerge who are, well, for lack of a better word...characters! This book, like it's predecessor, is also fun, light reading. I know that sounds like an oxymoron: "murder" and "light", however, the author combines the perfect amount of humor with serious subject matter. And, like "Mocha, Moonlight, and Murder", there are a few twists to keep the reader guessing. I couldn't put it down until I finished the last page (at 5 a.m.)!

"Forever Doomed" is a great second novel that I would recommend to everyone. I'm always on the lookout for new mystery authors: I think I have found one who is here to stay. I can't wait for the next book(s)!
