The quality of the cable is great and feels premium, I have not been able to test it out. I won't be trying it out any time soon as I misread the information when buying this, I thought it had a actual AUX male plug, when I plugged it in for what I was hoping it would do... well it did not work because its not what it does, I guess its what you call a mini optical end. So I will not dock any stars for my mistake, I believe the cable will work just fine, as I have ordered another cable from same company, and that works great. Just make sure this is what your looking for before you hit buy.

I replaced my old intel atom media pc that was running windows xp with a new Intel NUC. It was then that I realized that even though the spec called for an optical connector, that the old toslink cable I had wouldn't work. I was sure at one point I had purchased an adaptor to go from a standard toslink to the 3.5mm mirco optical that was on the back of my NUC but I couldn't find it. So on to Amazon I went and found this cable. I figured it much wiser to get a cable designed for the task than working with some adaptor.

The amazon box arrived in good time and it was like christmas ripping open the box to get the goodies inside. The cable comes packaged in a anti static like bag. Just so you know, the top is a ziplock like opening, so you don't need to search around for the scissors to cut the top off.

Down to the man cave I went to get this bad boy plugged in. I practicing all things safe, turned off everything before poking around behind the rack. The cable fits in perfectly with a small click feeling. There is a convenient cap attached to the cable for both ends that you need to remove but stays with the cable so you don't loose it. BONUS!

Powered back on the NUC and the pre-amp and after everything booted went to start listening to my digital music again. But I was stuck with silence. Checked all the setting. The pre-amp was configured right. The NUC had all the setting right. The Foobar2000 was configured right. But it didn't work. So I tried moving it to a new toslink plug on the back of the pre-amp. Still nothing. Oh Man. Don't tell me I god a cable that doesn't work. I tried re-plugging in both sides of the cable. Still nothing.

After an hour of puzzlement, it dawned on me that I had turned off the external amplifier to the speaker. With a simple click on, I got wonderful sound.

This cable rocks, At 3' long, it is the perfect distance to go from the NUC to the pre-amp without the need to coil extra cable. Keeps everything need. The cable is built to what looks like a really hight standard. It doesn't look like a cheep cable. I am happy again and enjoying the sonic sounds from my music collection once again.
