Product Description

All new, updated and revised edition with a new afterword from the author.

Buried deep below the Nevada desert, in a place often called Area 51, is a very special and ancient school where the best and brightest children come to learn the technology that will bring mankind to its next step of evolution -- a place amongst the stars. 'The Fourth World' follows four children through their entry into this school: 'Fintan Reilly' is a young, often bullied Irish boy who has a big destiny; Zach Adams, from Fresno, is his diametric opposite, and instant best friend; Ayako Katsuragi is a brilliant Japanese girl, a military brat who is as capable as she is smart and Nizhoni Benally is a Navajo from New Mexico, who is as tough as she is beautiful, and who somehow shares a secret past with Fintan. The book follows their first year in their new school, with an Alien as headmaster, and where they learn everything from Cosmic History through to how to fly a flying saucer, and comes to a shocking conclusion in a field trip to Mars where ancient secrets are uncovered.

HASH(0x9e357db0) out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised Aug. 16 2010

Given the price and the lack of reviews, I didn't expect much out of this book. But I was pleasantly surprised. I am older than a teenager but it really kept my interest. The premise was creative and the story moved along nicely and had some interesting twists and turns. The ending was a little frustrating because it didn't wrap things up very well. It's plainly clear that there is a sequel. But I liked the book enough that I bought the sequel as soon as I finished it. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next!

I have never written a review before but after reading this book and realizing that there were only 2 reviews, I felt that I needed to. This book was suprising. I bought it only because it was free and I figured that I had nothing to lose. I really enjoyed this book and even bought the second one right after finishing it. The story was great and it kept me entertained throughout the book. It kind of reminded me of Harry Potter in a way but instead of wizards there were aliens. There were a few problems in the book, spelling mistakes and that sort of thing. Other than that I would recommend trying this book out.

HASH(0x9e357fc0) out of 5 stars A fun read Dec 5 2009

This is a good book about a special school of kids. The school is in Area 51! The story is well written, funny, and really grabs you. I almost finished the book in one-sitting and I am eagerly waiting for the sequel. If you like stories about aliens, flying spaceships, children growing up, Area 51, and the importance of family, you'll love this book. I would definitely recommend this book to people who like sci-fi, you won't be disappointed.

HASH(0x9e3632d0) out of 5 stars Made me willing to pay for second (and third) books... Jan. 27 2013

Overall, this was a really good book. The fact that the author is offering it for free, makes it even better! I liked it well enough that I bought the second book without question. Overall, there were a few questions I'd like to have seen answered better, but in the end, it was an enjoyable read. I liked the use of flying saucers, area 51 and such. It did seem a little far fetched that the first year kids could do as much as they did without it being noticed, but such issues within the storyline were easy to dismiss for the fun of just enjoying the story itself.

HASH(0x9e363330) out of 5 stars Harry Potter in Space Feb. 28 2013

If you ever liked Robert Heinlein or Andre Norton this book is for you. It is a bit surprising how much maturity the author places into 12 year old kids but the story picks you up and doesn't let you go. Occasional light humour, occasional pretty deep thinking, and good action. I shall buy the next book in this series.
