Product Description

Product Description

Deep down I enjoyed this life, it was fun seeing the different towns. Seven months on the road, five months back at the yard. Day in, day out. Nothing changed except the weather and the accents of the fair-goers.

Until tonight. That’s when I see you standing there, looking back at me when my eyes find you. Even in the dimming light of the day and the harsh flashing bulbs, I see you blush before you look down, looking anywhere except back at me. A smirk creeps onto my face with my thoughts: you look beautiful in your baggy jeans and vest top.

The light captures your black hair shielding your face. I know I need to grab a shower before I head into the pay box, but I can't seem to tear myself away from watching you.

This was a beautiful love story and testament to the fact that fragile and broken people can find happiness. Ashleigh is just that. Broken, abused and shattered by an older man who has power over her. He's a nasty drug and alcohol addicted evil man. She has no self esteem and has given up all hope of ever finding a better life. Enter Stephen. He sees her at a carnival and spots her cowered, waiting by the rides. Something about her haunts him and he's determined to get to know her. Her simple beauty fascinates him and he eyes her as a treasure.
I loved every page of this book. It is truly a feel good, inspirational story about how life can deal you a rotten hand but serves up grace in the form of a knight in shining armor just when you least expect it.
I felt like I was there, witnessing the whole story. So beautifully written. Love at first sight does exist and with the right person, life can turn around and bring you so many blessings!
Thank you JC Clarke for delivering such a satisfying and heart rending story. More stories like this please:)

This novella is narrated by a male protagonist. It reminds us that by holding out our hands to someone in need we can make a significant change to their life as Stephen does when he falls in love with Ashleigh who has suffered more than any young girl should. He sees her standing in the corner of the Fairground where he woks and knew he had to make her his. It is a hauntingly beautiful rendition portraying love in its purest form.

I read this book in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also note that the author is the cover designer too which was so exquisite that it attracted me to buy it in the first place.

Looking forward to picking up more from this author.

HASH(0x9fcfe724) out of 5 stars Beautifully written July 30 2015

This book is just...wow.

I honestly had no idea what I was getting into when I picked up this book. I had been given an ecopy by a friend who said "YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK!" Ok then....

This novella is short, sweet and intensely beautiful. It's tragic and wonderful and I ugly cried all over the place. I didn't immediately catch who the narrator was and I LOVED that. So much so that I'm not going to tell you the catch - you have to pick it up for yourself! I loved the use of a carnival/fair for a setting. It was unusual and made things more interesting. JC Clarke handles this story with grace and beauty and I just absolutely adore it.

The characters caught me from the first moment and took me along on their journey and I'm still not sure I'm over it!

HASH(0x9fdd3ef4) out of 5 stars well it just makes it all the more beautiful. Set against the backdrop of a carnival Feb. 26 2015

What a heartfelt story! And to think it's based on true events...well it just makes it all the more beautiful. Set against the backdrop of a carnival, Stephen notices Ashleigh, a woman who is broken and alone, and frightened of the situation she finds herself in. He makes it his mission to protect her, any way he can.

I loved reading Stephen's inner voice...his kindness, warmth and care for his friends as well as the girl destined to be his shining through. I still have tears in my eyes...to see a young woman go through so much in her young life...to be made felt less of a person because of another...thankfully to be rescued by a kind and gentle man. Wonderfully touching love story that will tug on your heartstrings.

This was a short a sweet novella that had very little dialogue. It was all written from Stephens point of view. This is the first time reading something written this way, I kept missing the dialogue, but JC Clarke has done an amazing job with her descriptions throughout the book.
You really were drawn into the sights and smells and the whole world that she created using only his point of view and her descriptions.

This was a great wee short story and it was filled with so much emotion.

Wow. This is a truly beautiful heartfelt story. I thought I was about to start a novella. Then I see in the acknowledgment stat this is the story of how the author met her husband. What I didn't expect was all the emotions that I felt while reading this.

This story is told through Stephens point of view. He tells us how he felt the first time he saw Ashleigh.

Although this was a really quick read it was pure perfection. I totally adored their story and the goosebumps it gave me.
