My students enjoyed the book quite a bit as we learned about the french revolution within our french culture class. Gave them all the gruesome facts that they may not otherwise read/hear within the classroom. Good read!

HASH(0xa142dbb8) out of 5 stars Not bad. Not great. Jan. 11 2011

My son was enraptured with the Horrible History videos on YouTube. Because I am old fashioned, I thought a book would be good too. This one was ok. Interesting in parts, repetitive in parts. Decently written. But not inspired.

HASH(0xa142de04) out of 5 stars Great Book! Nov. 23 2011

I had ordered The Horrible Histories Box Set, HH USA, and HH France. Even though it was shipping all the way from the UK, the France book was the first to get here, and the shipping time was so fast! That was the first good thing to happen. There was one problem tough, in that I had ordered a new book (since I'm a perfectionist), and this book looked pretty used in the spine and covers, but nonetheless it was great. The book was simply amazing, I LOVED it! The only chapter that was a bit redundant was Chapter 6, Revolting France. It talked about the different revolutions, but they all began and ended the same way. The rest of the book was phenomenal, especially the last four chapters. Their summary of the French Revolution was amazingly well-done. Seriously, I cannot describe how fantastic it came out! I would highly recommend this book and can't wait for the Box Set and USA to arrive!!!

Focuses on kings, queens and the French Revolution. Told with great humor and cute cartoons. Not always completely accurate mostly because it simplifies complex issues. Great funto read, but not the best in the series.
