HASH(0x9f19b0fc) out of 5 stars Love: Divine and Human April 12 2011

This is an excellent reading of some of this world's greatest love poems. Petrarch's sonnets are filled with expressions of his human love and the impact they had upon his personal spiritual journey. I suggest reading about his life, influences (Dante, et al), and later impact (Shakespeare, et al) on the development of Western literature and poetry, to supplement your understanding and appreciation of this marvelous production.

The reader, Anton Lesser, gently, though thoroughly, conveys Petrarch's intentions, purpose, and soul. This is a work which demands attentive listening, but the rewards are immense and life enriching. I highly recommend this rendition.
