HASH(0x9e2faea0) out of 5 stars Not what I expected Nov. 9 2010

I expected a Fred Astaire/Jane Powell collection but instead there were only two movie of the two of them and the rest were very random movies, most in poor quality.

HASH(0x9f0a60e4) out of 5 stars Misleading Title Aug. 7 2011

Like another reviewer, I assumed by the title this would be a collection of movies including the titled pair. Wrong! Only one movie (Royal Wedding) had the pair of them. One other with Fred Astair & 2 others with Jane Powell.
The connection with the 2 remaining films was meant to be comic relief. Say what? A TV version with Red Skeleton looked like it was made by using a movie camera & filming a poor quality TV. The remaining one is meant to be a funny Western. Disappointed. Again, the Title is very misleading.

HASH(0x9f0a6348) out of 5 stars Interesting For Early Patty Duke Appearance ! May 25 2013

Enjoyed all the films, but the main one of interest for me is the 1959 television version of Meet Me In St. Louis. Patty Duke as a child plays Jane Powell's little sister Tootie. She acts very well. Also of interest as their neighbor is Tab Hunter in a rare musical role.

HASH(0x9f0a6678) out of 5 stars 6 program set with rare TV appearances which makes some print quality problems acceptable June 12 2014

This collection of 6 features contains 4 movies that are reasonably common; "Royal Wedding", the only one with both Astaire and Powell (and a good print for public domain), "Second Chorus" (somewhat scratchy print), "The Over-the-Hill- Gang Rides Again"( a tv western from much later in Astaire's career, "Delightfully Dangerous" (a scratchy print) from early in Powell's career are the 4. Like many other collectors I have all 4 either individually or in other sets. What are rare, at least as far as I know, are the other two. One is the Red Skelton Show episode from 1962, entitled "Rupert the Stupert", guest starring Powell, Charles Ruggles and Jules Munschen. It also has some print problems but I doubt you'll find it too many other places. I bought this set for "Meet Me in St. Louis" which is a tv production from 1959 with an all star cast. Again, I think this is very rare; I've only seen the title listed with one other private collector source. It is a kinescope, which means it's a bit grainy and soft focus, as they tend to be, but I don't imagine that it's going to something that will ever be restored, if it even can be. It's watchable quality and a has a dream cast: Tab Hunter, Jane Powell, Walter Pidgeon, Jeanne Crain, Myrna Loy, Ed Wynn, Reta Shaw, young Patty Duke and Lois Nettleton. Where else are you going to get this for under $10.00?

First, the price is right! Second, you can never go wrong with watching Fred Astaire. Also, I liked Jane Powell in her version of "Meet Me In etc."
