Love, love , love. Best album to date in my opinion. Playing this in my car has hooked a friend and her teenage son.

Divided Opinion

I love The Script so much which is why it pains me to have to give this album less than five stars. Unfortunately though, for me Freedom Child is not as good as their previous four albums and is a world away from the melodic brilliance of No Sound Without Silence. First single Rain stands out a mile in terms of tunefulness and storytelling, qualities we've come to expect from the Irish trio, but sadly a handful of tracks fall short of the mark. The band apparently felt the need to move with the times and introduce EDM sounds into their songs, fearing their music would otherwise not be relevant, but I believe this is a misconception.Their Irish-influenced melodic rock sound, loved by their huge army of fans in The Script Family, is totally relevant in today's market and would provide a breath of fresh air from the monotony of the current music scene.
That said, there are good tunes on Freedom Child, my personal favourites being the brilliant summer-sounding Rain, ballad Arms Open, the soaring title track and opener No Man is an Island. I'll still be playing these on repeat and I'm sure the album will be a big hit but I think this will be based largely on their past reputation. Given that I prefer their even-numbered albums, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that album number six sees a return to their much-loved and tried and tested sound.

Faith in The Script
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on September 7, 2017Verified Purchase
As a huge fan of the Script I was initially worried about this album when I heard the first single Rain. I bought the album despite my scepticism and I'm glad I did. Although in my opinion Rain is probably the weakest track, that negative is far outweighed by the massive positives brought by tracks such as Arms Open and Eden but by far and away the jewel in the crown of another special Script album is the track Make Up. Its yet another wonderfully sensitive and beautifully crafted narrative on a social issue which has been particularly prominent recently. This sort of track has almost became signature Script and I genuinely believe no one in the industry right now tackles such issues in such a stunningly unique and sensitive fashion. Another massive achievement by the boys! Consistently high quality!

Too much swearing for my liking 😠

I love The Script but this is my least favourite album . Why? Too much swearing!!! I just don't see the need for it. I'm not opposed to a couple of swears. I'm 41 by the way ☺️ and feel a bit awkward about playing it loud although sure my teenager has heard it all at school.

Fantastic but shame about the swearing
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on December 5, 2017Verified Purchase
It may have taken me a couple of plays, but this album is fantastic. The only thing I don't like (& the reason it's not 5 stars!) is the swearing, there's just no need for it in a song.
