Product Description

"John Grooters reminds me of an ancient prophet. He has a unique ability to speak God's truth in the modern language and parable of film. I think the project he is working on, The Frontier Boys is a classic example. It will be a riveting drama that speaks to contemporary culture the ancient concepts of the Bible. I highly recommend it."
--Ray Vander Laan, Author and Teacher- "The "That the World May Know"" Series, Focus on the family

"With unexpected twists and turns, the adventures of The Frontier Boys captures your attention. But beyond that, the storyline offers opportunity for exploring significant life-issues on the journey toward maturity. More than entertainment, these adventures are character building."
--Paul Hontz PhD- Pastor, Central Wesleyan Church

"As president of the Dove Foundation, I've been visiting with executives of all the major film studios for over 18 years now. In all those years I've not brought more than six scripts that I thought were worthy of our highest recommendation. The Frontier Boys by John Grooters is right at the top of that list."
--Dick Rolfe, President, The Dove Foundation

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Three quick shots, and then the car sped away at full speed to the sound of screams.

Brent Fencett found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now his friend’s life hangs in the balance, his basketball season is on the brink, and Brent is reluctantly trying to help his other best friends solve the very crime he committed.

As they get closer and closer to finding some answers, Brent faces the deepest choice in his life—to come clean or to cover up his own guilt. Only one choice will set him free.

“I have always respected people who demonstrate the strength and ability to do what is right in all situations, especially when there is great pressure to do otherwise.  The Frontier Boys is an inspiring story about these very choices.  I strongly encourage you to read it.”
     --Kirk Cousins, Quarterback—Washington Redskins

HASH(0x9bfbf0cc) out of 5 stars Suspenseful, hard to put down book Oct. 10 2012
By Valerie Caraotta - Published on
Format: Paperback
The Frontier Boys: The Novel. The Frontier Boys is a fictional work by John Grooters that depicts two opposite polar sides of brothers that find themselves trying to escape the law due to reckless behavior and unwise choices. The younger brother, a star basketball player in high school and excellent student of good reputation lives a life very different than his older brother of 8 years, a college dropout and drug user/ seller. Brent, the younger of the two, finds himself compromising his gut instincts, follows his brother after church and must then deal with the emotional and legal ramifications of his mishap.
See how justice and mercy plays out while getting in the hearts of key characters and feeling their struggles.
Though fictional in nature there are some real truths that can be grasped:
- Be careful who you hang around with.
- Sowing and reaping is the law of the land.
- The prayers of a righteous man avail much.
- A true friend can stick closer than a brother.
- Never underestimate the power of the living God.
This is a hard to put down book and you will want to race to find increasingly more information as the drama climaxes. Truly a 5 star quality book to read and pass on to others.

HASH(0x9bfbbbdc) out of 5 stars interesting! Oct. 31 2012
By Ms. E. Chijarira - Published on
Format: Paperback
I liked reading this book. It made me laugh and cry. This is one of the best fictional novels I have read with biblical values. As I read this book I found myself being encouraged to press on and pray until I see things happen and never to give up. It was simple and easy to read. I believe many people will be blessed as they read this book and relate to life challenges in this book and how God can turn things around if we dare believe him.

HASH(0x9c0dc978) out of 5 stars Fast and fun read Nov. 2 2012
By Melanie Arias - Published on
Format: Paperback
The book pulled me in immediately with the main character, Brent. He is from a single parent home. His adult brother, Mike, is selfish and cruel and his mother drinks and is disengaged. Brent is a basketball player for a high school team in northern Michigan. Two of the other characters, TJ and Jed, are also basketball players. Another character, Jackson, is at the heart of the cheering section. All four of the high school boys have a long friendship and are known as the frontier boys.

The story gets interesting quickly when the Frontier Boys accidentally get mixed up with Mike and his law-breaking friends. Mike thinks he is on to a fortune when he connects with a major drug dealer. Brent is tempted to join the drug scene for money and approval. Another one of the Frontier Boys is shot in a drive-by shooting by the drug gang.

The story moves quickly and is neither too depressing nor too sappy. The chapters are short and the writing is crisp. This would be perfect for a middle school or high school library. There is plenty of action to keep a younger reader interesting. The only part that is not realistic is the lack of swearing by the drug gang. But, as a parent, I would not want my son or daughter to read something riddled with curse words.

I certainly look forward to seeing the movie after reading this novel!

John writes one of those stories that moves fast and is full of many elements, including: anticipation, loyalty, fear, truth, hope, restoration and grace! His book will capture you and make you think deeply on questions and mysteries that we are made to seek in our journey of understanding. Whom we are? Whom God is? Why are we here?
