Product Description

Winner of the 86th Annual Academy Awards® for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Music (Original Song)

Featuring the voices of Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, "Frozen" is the coolest comedy-adventure ever to hit the big screen. When a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna, a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff and his sidekick reindeer Sven on an epic journey to find Anna's sister Elsa, the Snow Queen, and put an end to her icy spell. Encountering mystical trolls, a funny snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.

--------------

A sweet, magical film filled with great music, likable characters, and striking effects, Frozen is a fairy tale about overcoming obstacles and the power of true love. Princesses Anna and Elsa are sisters and the closest friends until one day Elsa discovers that she can no longer control her power to create ice and snow. Terrified for the safety of her sister and everyone around her, Elsa isolates herself and vows to never feel any sort of passionate emotion again in hopes of suppressing her powers. But when Elsa comes of age and is set to be crowned queen, she must open the gates of the palace and let in the public, not to mention her sister Anna. Things go horribly wrong and Anna pursues her sister into the mountains in an attempt to save Elsa and reverse the deep freeze that Elsa has inadvertently released on the kingdom of Arendelle. Along the way, Anna joins forces with Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), an ice seller with a strangely close relationship with his reindeer Sven, and Olaf (Josh Gad), a goofy snowman whom she suddenly remembers from early childhood. In the end, Anna and Elsa discover that only by embracing their deepest feelings do they have a chance of saving themselves and the kingdom. Inspired by "The Snow Queen" story by Hans Christian Andersen, the film has plenty of quirky, lovable characters along with a nice blend of corny humor, serious sentiment, suspense, and peril. Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel deliver rousing performances of great music that includes original songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and an original score by Christophe Beck, and the visual effects are simply stunning. Frozen definitely succeeds in captivating audiences young, old, and every age in between. --Tami Horiuchi

They have some catchy tunes and it's an enjoyable family movie.
The story is nice, but I think the best of this movie was the songs. That is why Elsa is more popular than Anna because she sings "Let it go".

This Disney creation is incredible. There is so much magic. It is impossible to describe. Like many Disney stories. This one plays with many emotions. I Love the song. You will fall in love with the characters. You can't help your emotions. Yes the movie is meant for the entire family.

It was unbelievably refreshing to watch a Disney movie that subverts all the fairy tale expectations that are perpetuated by all the previous Disney movies themselves. The heroines in Frozen are interesting, complicated, and brilliantly done. The songs are as catchy as ever (try getting "Let It Go" out of your head ever again), and the plot is comic and fun. It's wonderful that Disney, every so often, creates female characters that save themselves, rather than needing to be saved. Frozen is a brilliant movie that seems to reflect the Strong-Intelligent-Heroine trend that has wonderfully started to work its way into the media, from Katniss Everdeen to Anna. Hopefully this not only continues, but results in more movies as great as this one.

My Great Grand son watch this movie and then wanted to watch it again. I sat and watched it with him. He very much so enjoyed and his eyes were on the TV steady unless it was potty time. Very good one.

VIDEO:

Frozen freezes onto blu-ray with MPEG-4 AVC 1080p 2.24:1 encode. Frozen will heat up the icest hearts with this stunning and gorgeous transfer. Every detail - the tiniest particles of snow, the stony skin of a troll, a thin hair catching the light, dust floating past a window sill, the smallest freckle, strands of reindeer fur, on and on and on - is captured beautifully and perfectly. Colours are bold and striking as well, with wonderfully saturated hues, vivid primaries, dazzling whites, delicate purples and chilly blues, rich blacks and precise, carefully balanced contrast leveling. The final result, with the video almost filling up my 12 foot wide screen (using anamorphic lens), and brighter colour using the new Oppo 103D blu-ray player with the Darbee chip, is simply a heavenly experience. (5/5)

AUDIO:

If Frozen's video presentation does not thaw out your inner child, its DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround track certainly will. A full, enveloping soundfield is only the tip of the iceberg, as the film's sound design makes the most of every channel at its disposal. We are first rewarded with the room filling orchestrations of composer Christophe Beck, who partners with Norway's Frode Fjellheim for Eatnemen Vuelie (Song of the Earth). From there we race through time and musical numbers where the voices are crystal clear and the effects nice and punchy. Once the action moves out of the castle's safety, the track really rises to the aural occasion. Blowing storms and growling wolves and wooshing sleds highlight the mix's articulate panning, with thunderous bass. Dialogue remains crystal clear. The Oscar-winning Original Song Let It Go by Idina Menzel (as Elsa) certainly melt my heart.

The movie was great and I have zero complaints about it. However, the extras left a lot to be desired. One of the extras was a "how it was made" that is essentially a song by some of the voices actors describing how they -don't- know how the movie was made. I got he joke but ... I really wanted to know know how it was made. There was also a really strange and offsetting Disney short that didn't have anything to do with the movie. The deleted scenes were so obviously bad that they really weren't worth putting on the blu-ray. Essentially, the extras included no behind-the-scenes awesomeness that is typical of this sort of movie. That said ... the movie was great!

My grandchildren frequently visit, so I like to have some enjoyable CD's for quiet times. Frozen is one of the best animated stories that I have seen. The music is captivating for adults as well as children. The story has merit and is easy for children to understand. There is romance, humour, delight and good wins over evil. All these elements serve to intrigue the audience. A fun movie!
