The strength of the SnapScan is that it really can scan just about anything quickly and accurately. I've scanned 8.5x11 documents, 4x6 photos, receipts of varying sizes and have been pleasantly surprised with the results. It's easy to direct the scanning to create files directly to a drive without having to open them which really saves time.
I'm storing all of my documents on Amazon S3 using JungleDisk so I have (finally) achieved a paper-less office. Yesterday, I received my "paper mail" and within a couple of minutes had directed 100% of it to either the recycle bin or to the scanner and then, to the shredder with zero documents hitting my paper files.
Form factor of the device is great --- takes up very little space on my desk and actually looks quite sharp when it's in the closed position.
All and all, highly recommended.
highly recommend it. Standard office equipment for anyone that hates having paper files all over the place and can never find anything!!!
It may not be the cheapest scanner out there, but it is definitely worth the money.
What I love about this one is that it is also USB powered, so you don't need to drag a big brick. I've used the S1500 model and this is much smaller, easier to transport and still provides a fast scanning experience.
Well, well worth the price in my opinion. Enjoy.
I bought it to scan a few drawers' worth of archives. The sheet feeder works well unless the pages are torn or crumpled, and even then it is easy to scan them one at a time. Double-sided scanning is a huge time saver.
The device works on Linux but only in a basic way. I could not figure out how to change the resolution and other parameters under Linux, so now I dual-boot into Windows when I want to scan stuff. I tried using a virtual machine but the scanning process somehow took twice as long.

It's a bit slow, only loads something like 15 pages, the feeder sometimes pulls the paper in at an angle causing a jam, and it's a bit slow. Read morePublished 23 months ago by Vinnie
