It is really cool though, i have used it to boil water several times, and steep teas in it regularly. I wish i had bought the warmer too, then it could stay warm longer. But the infuser works well, really fine tea can get stuck in it but that hep pens with any glass infusers. I don't like other steel infusers cause they seem to give off a metallic taste... That's why i like the glass teapots. We have been using it to make flowering teas we bought at the local tea shop, worked great.
It is so cute though, a good buy. Enjoy!
To keep this type of glass from breaking I always rinse the teapot in medium-hot water and gently clean the infuser with a toothbrush. The reason why I do this is because the glass becomes much stronger when heated (and will likely survive a small drop). If the teapot is exceptionally cold, I will fill it with warm water at first before using it with hot water.
This is a simply beautiful tea pot, that will give you the pure taste of tea without any after-taste. Many teas also look amazing in glass teapots, and this teapot definitely looks wonderful. This teapot looks divine when sitting on top of a glass tea warmer in a dark room.
Trick: give yourself extra time to boil water, as glass isn't as heat conductive as metal, however, you patience pays off with a wonderful, clear tasting cup of tea!
I was waiting a week before I was going to give this kettle 5 stars, but tonight the inevitable happened and the thing just cracked. Like previous reviewers have said - it's fragile and it will crack. I was literally pouring tea into a glass mug, and the lid on the teapot shifted so I moved the teapot to compensate and the spout touched the edge of my glass mug. One touch - and crack.
I'm pretty disappointed because I had high hopes for this kettle/teapot.
Perfect size to make about 8 cups of tea, love the removable infuser. The fact that its a glass tea pot is pretty cool, looks great and prevents the tea from getting that metal-like taste from metal teapots and infusers.
Its a strong teapot so don't worry about it being fragile. I was worried about the glass staining due to the tea sitting in the pot for a while, but it doesn't at all!
Overall a good teapot. One complaint: it doesn't keep the heat of the water in very well. The tea will stay hot for about 15 minutes then it starts to get to a luke-warm temperature. I would recommend the warmer, I think I'm going to pick one up. I suppose this may be due to the fact that its made of thin glass and is not a great insulator. Well, you can't have everything.
Unfortunately, after about a year of delicate use, this broke during hand washing in the sink. Upon further inspection I noted that the glass on the bottom was EXTREMELY thin, which seems odd as this would be a frequent wear area. I wasn't particularly impressed with the quality. I have since found another glass teapot from Salvation Army that is much sturdier and I've owned and washed it for over two years now without any breakage issues. While I loved the look of this Grosche teapot, I'm afraid it is not the most durable one out there.
I haven't tried boiling water in it yet but it is great for looking at the color of your tea
