PS: a lot of people have said in reviews that this product isn't good for dwc hydroponics, those people don't even know what they are talking about i have used clay pebbles for maybe 5 years with dwc and i'm happy with it.
They float on water: This is perfectly normal!! They aren't supposed to be in direct contact with water anyway. The level of water should be just above the plastic net that holds the pebbles.. that's the bubbles that the air stone is making that will keep the pebbles wet (i'm using what we call a bubbler, a simple but effective hydroponic system)
They have dust in it: Of course this is clay, are you really expecting it to be clean ??? You always need to clean it before you use it, i clean pebbles after each grow.. Also the fine dust is mostly sillicate and you know what? PLANTS NEED SILLICATE, so if you have a little bit of it in your water it's perfectly ok.
