Product Description

Susanna Ivy captures one of the most ecologically diverse locations on the planet with a fresh eye and stunning sense of perspective and color. Here, readers will be transported to the islands famed for their vast number of animal species—an island studied by Charles Darwin during the voyage of the Beagle.

Galapagos Dreams presents full-color photographs of a whirlwind tour of these diverse islands. Isolated from the mainland of Ecuador, here animal and plant species evolved at their own pace...and the results are breathtaking. All of which are captured in full color by nature photographer, Susanna Ivy. Sponsored by Sony and winner of the prestigious Galapagos Calendar Contest, Susanna will bring to you the Galapagos Islands as you’ve never seen them before. And for those new to this wondrous island chain, be prepared to fall in love with it.

Use this book as an addition to your travel guide and as inspiration for your own great shots.

Please note: For best results it is recommended that you view this book on Kindle Fire, a free Kindle computer application or a free Kindle smartphone application. For those with black and white Kindles the photos will still be viewable.

HASH(0x9f87030c) out of 5 stars Galapagos Jewel May 19 2012
By Meagan Morrison - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
This stunning book of images is a siren-call to explore the pristine beaches, feel the sand and the sea, breathe in the natural beauty inherent in the Galapagos. Until I visit in person, these moments in time recorded so artfully by Ms. Ivy will strengthen my resolve to one day be there, see these things in my own way. For now, I am privileged to enjoy the place which captivated and inspired Charles Darwin, through the lens of the photographer. Thank you, Ms. Ivy, for sharing your vision, your personal experience of the Galapagos Islands.

HASH(0xa0ecf150) out of 5 stars Gorgeous photos! April 19 2012

I've always been intrigued by the Galapagos Islands. I loved seeing a tour of the archipelago in photos by the very talented and award-winning photographer, Susanna Ivy. This book is a delicious pictorial look at a place that is rare and unspoiled. I enjoyed it very much. I have an old Kindle that is only greyscale, so I viewed the book on my laptop on the Amazon Cloud Reader. I look forward to seeing more photo books by Ms. Ivy.

HASH(0x9fae80e4) out of 5 stars Unfortunately I couldn't see the photos very well on my Kindle Paperwhite July 25 2013

Because my Kindle Paperwhite has only black and white, I couldn't see the photos very well. It's a shame but I guess it's not the fault of the book or the author. Just the way it goes . . .

HASH(0xa015cf90) out of 5 stars Review: Galapagos Dreams: A Photo Journey by Susanna Ivy Sept. 10 2012

I don't normally look at photography books, especially in ebook form, but I was pleased with this one. I viewed it on my Kindle 4 to test how well the grey-scaled pictures would look, in anticipation that I'd have to instead open it up on my Kindle PC app. I didn't have to. I think they actually looked great in grey-scale. I'll go back and view them on my computer as well, but it's not as necessary as I first thought.

I enjoyed seeing the exotic animals that live on the famous islands and a little of the scenery as well. I wish it was a little bit longer, but I understand that it's not easy to create a longer book of photography and have all the pictures be of high quality.

My only real complaint is the lack of text. I don't know if it's standard to just have photos for any entire book, but I think it could have only benefited from either brief text about the photograph or a little bit about the journey spread throughout the book. It may have enhanced the experience just a bit more.

HASH(0xa02a2a08) out of 5 stars Beautiful Pictures from a Gorgeous Place Nov. 27 2012

The book contains a series of pictures without any narratives except the occasional title.

This works because the pictures speak for themselves. Each is more beautiful than the others and the quality of the colors, lights and different subjects is simply incredible.

When I finished the book the first I wanted to go to the islands to see with my own eyes the beautiful things brought to life by the author.

I had a special feeling for Lonesome George who was the last of his kind and is no more.

Thank you for sharing this great pictures with us. When I need to escape in a beautiful place, I just read the book.

My only complaint is that I wish the book was longer.
